Peace, simplicity, and harmony—that’s what you’ll find at this nature retreat. The log cabin perfectly embodies the nature experience we strive to provide: pure nature, yet with a touch of comfort. And no Wi-Fi. The cabin is surrounded by shrubs and trees on the southwest side of our property, where you’ll have your own completely private space. From the porch, you’ll enjoy a beautiful view of the fields, where you can admire many sunsets. Everything you need is there: a kitchenette with all the essentials, a shower with hot and cold water, a cozy living room, and a comfortable bedroom. Outside, there’s a composting toilet. We’ve also recently added a wood stove, so you’ll stay nice and warm even on cold days. On our property, there’s a sauna that you can use by appointment for a small fee, and seasonal fruits and vegetables from the vegetable garden are available for purchase upon request, and so is homemade jam.
Nature and surroundings
The Westerwold nature reserve is located nearby. It’s a fantastic area for biking and hiking along the Ruiten Aa. Wooded, rural, with vast nature reserves and unspoiled forests. Cycle to Bourtange or the Drenbtse Aa, past the hunebeds, or take a short drive to Groningen. In Ter Apel and Musselkanaal, just a 6-minute drive away, there are several supermarkets. In Emmen, you’ll find a large shopping center. You can swim in various natural lakes, but there are also swimming pools nearby. In the Westerwold, near Vlagtwedde, you’ll feel as if time has stood still. No large farmlands, windmills, or solar panels. The peace and slow pace of life are literally palpable here. There’s also a wide variety of restaurants in the surrounding area. We’d be happy to recommend some.

Free cancellation within 7 days of your booking confirmation, provided the booking request was made more than 28 days before the start date. For bookings starting within 28 days, free cancellation applies within 24 hours. If you cancel within the specified period, you are entitled to a full refund of the booking amount.
After that, you will receive a partial refund of the trip cost and a 100% refund of the deposit:
• Up to 42 days before arrival: 70% refund
• 42–28 days before arrival: 40% refund
• 28 days through the day of arrival: 10% refund
• On the day of arrival or later: no refund
- Out of respect for nature: silence between 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM.
- Minimum age of main booker: 18 years.
- Smoking is not allowed in this nature house.
- No fireworks are allowed at this Nature House.
- No parties or events are allowed.
- This nature house is not suitable for groups of young people, students and sports teams.
- Waste separation is mandatory in this nature house.
