Our completely new (2024) vacation home and B&B is located in the outskirts of Schalkwijk (Utr). From the house you overlook our meadow where in summer 2 horses and a pony graze. In our yard is an orchard with various (old) fruit varieties. For our guests there is free use of the fruit during harvest. There are 2 bedrooms. In the main bedroom there is a double bed and from that bedroom you enter a smaller bedroom with a stackable bed. This bed can be split into 2 single beds. The kitchen in fully equipped with induction hob, fridge, dishwasher, microwave and Nespresso machine. There is complete bathroom and a separate toilet with a fountain. Upon arrival, the beds are made and towels are provided. Through the French doors you will enter directly on the terrace where there is a garden table with 4 chairs. The apartment has air conditioning.

From the terrace you have a view of the an owl box where an owl breeds annually. In addition to many songbirds also a green and a spotted woodpecker breeds on our plot. From the house you can walk to the Lek with its beautiful floodplains. This nature house is located in the area of the New Dutch Waterline; nature, culture and history at a short distance. At 2 km is De Steenwaard; a beautiful floodplain area with many different birds. There are many beautiful cycling and walking routes nearby. In Schalkwijk also start 2 Klompenpaden and these lead you through the special "Verdronken Bos". Bert August 22, 2025 General rating:Only point was, we were 4 adults. And the beds in the 2nd bedroom are very low, really suitable for children. But that will also be the case most of the time. Was also our own choice. Indeed, the reservation was later changed from 2 to 4. We were already happy that there were no bunk beds.

Cities and museums in the area for lovers. Nice restaurants and addresses for lunch or coffee and cake in the area. For us this was the perfect cottage.
