NEW!!! This nature house (living area 100 m2) is a restored former barn with its own driveway. The cottage is located in the heart of the ribbon village Westzaan and lies "Inverdan" to the road (staggered backwards in Zaans dialect). As a result, there is a spacious front garden with lawn and parking. Behind the house there is a deck terrace on open water with a view of the Polder Westzaan. The house has a spacious living room with comfortable seating area and a unique floating staircase. In the large living kitchen you can sit at the dining table or on the 3 meter long sofa to relax or enjoy the meadow birds. Upstairs are 2 bedrooms and a large closet. Shower and toilet are downstairs. Many sustainable materials were (re)used for the restoration and furnishing. The walls of sober natural wood, the rustic beams, the concrete floor (with floor heating) and the industrial furniture breathe a sleek but cozy atmosphere.
Nature and surroundings
Zaanstad is known for its versatility. The Veenweidegebied of the polder Westzaan (Natura 2000) offers a wide variety of meadow birds and plant species. The cycling and walking paths around the polder always give a different view of the exciting combination of nature, culture and industry. Those who want to see it up close take the boat or sup (by arrangement). Whether it's meadow birds, the Zaanse timber construction or the many mills and industrial buildings, it's definitely worth a visit. The Zaanse schans, the Twiske, Wormer- and Jisperveld, Alkmaardermeer, the Defence Line of Amsterdam, or the beach are all within biking distance of Westzaan. Zaandam train station is only 15 minutes by bike. From there, Amsterdam (15 min), Haarlem, Hoorn and Alkmaar (30 min) are very easily accessible by train. A restaurant with tea garden can be found at 100 meters, the farm store at 1 km and the distinctive Regthuys, the large church without the tower (!), and the supermarket are within walking distance within 2 km.
