In the middle of a green oasis stands this newly built, incredibly cozy Shepherds hut in a unique location in South East Drenthe. Fully fenced, private parking, private entrance and for the fireplace is firewood available. On this beautiful location is much attention to biodiversity, space for garden birds, hedgehogs, owls, squirrels, butterflies and bees and they come to visit regularly. Hostess Irma is a small hobby beekeeper and finds it important that in addition to good care for the honey bees there is extra care for the wild bees. So lots of flowering greenery. A lovely place for 2 people and fully equipped; a toilet, shower, heating, air conditioning, cooking, TV. It is lovely to stay here with an outdoor fireplace for cooking and nice long evenings outside and enjoy each other, the stars, the animals. It is certainly not quiet, because when you wake up, you are surrounded by the sound of all the surrounding birds.
Nature and surroundings
If you're a hiker or cyclist, you've come to the right place! The Shepherds hut is close to a number of nodes of the Drenthe walking network, and since 2023 beautiful Van Gogh walking routes have been added. Also many cycling routes including the new Van Gogh cycling routes that won the award of the most beautiful cycling routes in Europe in 2024. The nature reserve Bargerveen, about 3 km from the Shepherds hut, which consists mainly of raised bog and is the largest remaining Dutch bog area of the old Bourtanger moor. Here you can do beautiful biking and hiking and there is also the largest sheepfold in the Netherlands for natural grazing. This nature reserve is part of the international Nature Park Veenland, which is located both in the Netherlands and Germany with lots of attractive places to visit. By the way, on the grounds of the Shepherds hut there is also a shed with a double socket, where you can keep your own bikes safe and dry and charge them.
