Wouldn’t you love to carry a place like this with you all the time? So you could conjure up the peace, the vastness, and the sound of rippling water whenever you need it. We stayed two nights on Norderney with our dogs and feel absolutely happy. That’s also thanks to Sandra, who’s not only very warm and hospitable but has also furnished the boat with great taste and an eye for comfort.
In any case, we hope to come back again someday!

Zo'n plek als dit zou je toch het liefst altijd met je mee willen dragen? Dat je de rust, de weidsheid en het geluid van kabbelend water zó tevoorschijn kunt halen als je het nodig hebt. We logeerden twee nachten met onze honden op de Norderney en voelen ons helemaal happy. Dat is ook te danken aan Sandra, die niet alleen heel hartelijk en gastvrij is, maar die ook met veel smaak en oog voor comfort de boot heeft ingericht.
In ieder geval hopen we nog eens terug te komen!

Sleeping on a boat was high on my bucket list. I’m glad I was able to check this off my list in Monnickendam. Sandra is a fantastic host who offers a unique nature house with great care and taste. She’s very communicative, super friendly, and you can really feel her hospitality in the cottage: plenty of pillows, blankets, and cozy linens. There are also plenty of supplies for cooking, eating, and enjoying a snack platter on the deck with a glass of wine.
There’s air conditioning for hot days if needed. But the boat’s windows and doors also provide plenty of ventilation, and they’re well-protected with mesh screens against mosquitoes and flies. The water pressure in the shower is great (which is important to me). And I honestly can’t think of a single thing that made me think, “Oh, too bad this wasn’t here.”

Slapen op een boot stond hoog op mijn Bucket list. Ik ben blij dat ik dit in Monnickendam van mijn lijstje kon vinken. Sandra is een fantastische host die met veel zorg en smaak een uniek natuurhuisje aanbiedt. Ze is erg communicatief, super vriendelijk en je voelt haar gastvrijheid in het huisje: veel kussens, dekentjes en comfy linnengoed. Maar ook voldoende spulletjes om te koken, eten en lekker een borrelplankje op het dek te doen met een glaasje wijn.
Er is airco aanwezig voor de warme dagen als dat nodig is. Maar de raampjes en deuren van de boot bieden ook voldoende verkoeling en deze zijn goed afgezet met gaas tegen muggen en vliegen. De waterdruk van de douche is top (voor mij belangrijk). En ik kan werkelijk op geen enkel punt komen waarbij ik dacht: ai, jammer dat dit niet aanwezig was.

On Sandra’s boat, a friend, my dog, and I got to enjoy a beautiful part of the Netherlands. Its location at the dock offers a view of the Gouwzee, which is home to all kinds of waterfowl and is surrounded by lush vegetation. It’s literally a feast for the eyes.

The boat also exceeded all expectations. They’ve truly thought of everything, and I’ve rarely felt so welcome in a rental cottage. The boat is more spacious than the photos suggest, and two large women with a big dog had plenty of room (even in that box bed). Furthermore, the boat was very clean, logically laid out, bright, and beautiful.

In just five minutes, you’re in Monnickendam, where you can sit on a terrace in a picturesque setting, enjoy a sandwich with freshly smoked herring, or explore the shops.

We took our dog for walks every day—both in nature and right in the marina itself, where he had the time of his life walking along the water. Everything is close by, there’s plenty to choose from, and I definitely need to go back to explore more!

Op Sandra’s boot mochten een vriendin, mijn hond en ik genieten van een prachtig stukje Nederland. De ligging aan de steiger geeft uitzicht over de Gouwzee, die leven biedt aan allerlei watervogels en beplanting rondom rond. Je kijkt er letterlijk je ogen uit.

De boot overtrof ook elke verwachting. Werkelijk aan alles is gedacht en zelden heb ik me zo welkom gevoeld in een huurhuisje. De boot is ruimer dan de foto’s doen uitschijnen en twee grote vrouwen met grote hond hadden plaats zat (ook in die bedstee). Verder was de boot was erg schoon, logisch ingedeeld, lichtrijk en mooi.

Op vijf minuten ben je in Monnickendam, waar je in een pittoresk decor een terrasje kan doen, een broodje met vers gerookte haring kan eten of de winkeltjes ontdekt.

Met de hond hebben we dagelijks onze stappen gezet in zowel de natuur, maar ook in de jachthaven zelf had hij langs het water de tijd van zijn leven. Alles is vlakbij, keuze zat en ik moet nog eens terug om meer te ontdekken!
