Nature house in Banholt

A neat little cottage with a warm welcome from the owner, Philippe.
The furniture is a bit dated, but it suits the location. We were allowed to store our bikes in the shed. We spent most of our time outdoors because of the weather (an average of 30 degrees). Beautiful view from the terrace.

Een net huisje met een vriendelijk ontvangst door eigenaar Philippe.
Gedateerd meubilair wat past bij de lokatie. Fietsen mochten in de schuur staan. Wij hebben vooral buiten geleefd vanwege het weer (30 graden gemiddeld). Mooi uitzicht vanaf het terras.

It’s a nice little house.
From the terrace, there’s a beautiful view of the meadows and hills.
We spotted a badger from a distance. We had a wonderful ride (on electric bikes) over the hills to Valkenburg, Gulpen, and Vaals.

Het is een net huisje.
Vanaf het terrasje is er prachtig uitzicht over weiland en heuvels.
De Das hebben we van een afstand gezien. Heerlijk gefietst (electrisch) over heuvels naar Valkenburg, Gulpen en Vaals.

People who choose nature houses often do so because of the peace and quiet and the natural surroundings. Since the house is located near the Belgian Voer Region, here’s another tip: The Voer Region is just as beautiful as South Limburg, but nice and quiet and not as manicured as in the Netherlands. Our best experience was in and around the hamlet of Veurs (the Veurs Valley). Beautiful nature, orchids in the spring, and a cluster of well-maintained half-timbered houses—plus it’s very quiet with little traffic in the built-up area.

Mensen die voor natuurhuisjes kiezen doen dat vaak ook vanwege de rust en de natuur. Omdat Het verblijf vlak bij de Belgische Voerstreek ligt nog een tip. De Voerstreek net zo mooi als Zuid-Limburg maar lekker rustig en niet zo aangeharkt zoals in Nederland. Onze mooiste ervaring was in en rond het buurtschap Veurs. ( Het Veursdal) Mooie natuur, Orchideeën in het voorjaar en een hotspot van goed onderhouden vakwerkhuisjes vakwerkhuisjes en ook heel rustig en weinig verkeer in de bebouwde kom.

A pleasant stay, with friendly people who are approachable but definitely not pushy. Plenty of privacy. I did miss having hooks in the kitchen area to hang towels.

Fijn verblijf, aardige mensen die goed aanspreekbaar maar zeker niet opdringerig zijn. Voldoende privacy. Miste wel haakjes in het kookgedeelte om handdoeken op te hangen.

When we arrived, it was 30 degrees, and it was a pleasure that the cottage was nice and cool.

Toen we aankwamen was het 30 graden en was het een genot dat het huisje heerlijk koel was.

Even though we didn’t really get to enjoy the beautiful surroundings, we did enjoy the lovely view from the cottage and the terrace.
We were warmly welcomed by Fhilip with a Limburg vlaai.
Fhilip was kind enough to help us pick up the bikes and the bike rack.
And it was so wonderful that we got to watch little foxes and badgers from Fhilip’s terrace on two evenings.
Definitely worth repeating.

We hebben ondanks dat we niet heel mooi hadden genoten van de prachtige omgeving, het mooie uitzicht van uit het huisje en terras.
We werden hartelijk ontvangen door Fhilip met Limburgse vlaai.
Fhilip was zo attent om te helpen met het afhalen van de fietsen en fietsen drager.
En zo geweldig dat we 2 avonden bij Fhilip op het terras naar kleine vosjes en dassen mochten kijken.
Zeker voor herhaling vatbaar.
