My partner Genardus and I, Gea, bought this little farmhouse, built in 1910, in 2022 and renovated it into a comfortable home with a guesthouse, where we love to share this beautiful place with others. It’s located 200 meters from the Drentse A Natura 2000 area. Everything is on one level. It’s cozy and modern, fully equipped, and tastefully decorated. The modern kitchen is fully equipped with a refrigerator, induction cooktop, combination microwave, electric kettle, egg cooker, sandwich maker, and a Nespresso machine with a milk frother. The spacious double bed features a Mattsleeps mattress, which has been rated the best. There is a private bathroom with a shower, sink, hair dryer, and toilet. The cottage has its own entrance, a parking space, and a lockable bike shed. The property is heated by underfloor heating. Guests can enjoy three terraces, one of which features a fire pit (wood included), as well as a 2,000-square-meter lawn offering plenty of privacy—perfect for relaxing or playing a game of ball.

Nature and surroundings

Experience the charm of all four seasons in the countryside, south of Assen. This nature house is situated in a rustic setting on the edge of the “Stroomdallandschap Drentse Aa” Natura 2000 area, centrally located near the beautiful Drenthe Path (300 km), the oldest hiking trail in the Netherlands, and right next to the country’s largest network of bike paths. A tip for beautiful hiking and biking routes in the area: Check out “eindjeomindrenthe.” Culture lovers can visit, among other places, the Drents Museum, the Westerbork Memorial Camp, Galerie Wildevuur, the sustainability building in the Asserbos, the prison museum in Veenhuizen, and the Groninger Museum (across from Groningen Central Station), Hortus Botanicus Haren. There are several unique nature reserves near the nature house: the Dwingelerveld, the Fochteloerveen, the Hijkerveld, and the Drents-Friese Wold are highly recommended for nature lovers. The famous supermarket in Hooghalen, run by two very young ladies, is 4 km away.
