At the end of May 2024, after a major renovation, our forest cottage was rented out for the first time. Not only we are enthusiastic. Our guests also let us know how nice the nature house is. How quiet it is. How lovely it is to stay on the porch in good and bad weather. The cottage is fully modernized and insulated. There are two bedrooms. One has a 1.60m box spring bed with t.v. The other has a 1.40m sofa bed. Here you will find a good number of books and magazines. The kitchen is fully equipped with kettle, coffee filter machine, induction hob and combi-oven. Only a dishwasher is missing. The cozy living room has doors to the veranda. From there you look into the private garden, located on the South. If you would like the bed to be made (€ 15), please indicate this when booking. Kitchen towels are provided, you must bring your own.
Nature and surroundings
Already upon arrival one notices how quiet it is. Birds sing their hearts out, and the cuckoo can be heard. The flock of sheep regularly walks 'around the house. Under all weather conditions you can enjoy the wonderful peace on the terrace. Hiking and cycling routes start directly from the nature house. Walk one or more stages of the adjacent Drenthepad. A walk to the cozy Westerbork (2.5 km) or museum village Orvelte (2 km) is also worthwhile. Or bike into the beautiful countryside to, for example, the Mantingerzand, National Park the Drents Friese Wold, swimming pools in the woods, such as the Ieberenplas or 't Nije Hemelriek. Definitely worth a visit is the impressive camp Westerbork ( 12 km ) Culture can be sniffed in the Drents Museum in Assen. Emmen with Widlands zoo is 25 km away. Groningen (50 km) is an excellent shopping city, but do you come for the peace and quiet? That you will experience in abundance in our nature house!

While I realize that opinions are very personal, here are a few minor comments:
* It’s a shame that the lighting in the bathroom isn’t dimmable like it is in the living room. I found it way too bright! Especially for a bath ritual.
* A grab bar on the wall to help get out of the tub would be handy.
* The mats next to the bed keep sliding away, which can also be dangerous; a non-slip mat underneath would be a good option, in my opinion.
* The mattress topper shifts because the fitted sheet isn’t pulled over the entire mattress but only over the topper.
* A toilet freshener would be nice since there’s no window in the bathroom.
* I really didn’t like sitting on the couch or curling up on it, and the leather makes it feel cold. On top of that, there’s no TV in the living room, which is a shame if you’re a real movie lover and just want to be able to watch from the couch in the cozy atmosphere of the living room

* ik vond de bank echt niet fijn om op te zitten/lekker weg te kruipen en het leer maakt het koud. Daarbij mist dan ook de tv in de woonkamer wanneer je een echte filmliefhebber bent en gewoon vanaf de bank wil kunnen kijken in de fijne sfeer van de woonkamer
* overal in huis toch honden(of katten-?) haren gezien terwijl het verder heel schoon was.
