Welcome to our pleasant outdoor spot on the edge of the Lembeek woods. Here you can be a green seeker, forester, game picker or field cook. We are committed to biodiversity and pleasant interactions between people and environment. In the chalet you will find a cozy living room with wood stove, kitchen and bathroom (with all necessary equipment) and a bedroom (overlooking garden & fields). Furthermore a valuable selection of books, games and homemade ceramics. Outside there is a loam oven (bread/pizza), a campfire area with three-pickle and a covered kitchen. Ingredients come from the kitchen garden, greenhouse or food forest. We grow according to permaculture principles. There is something to harvest in every season: herbs, vegetables, berries, fruits or mushrooms. And daily fresh eggs from the chickens! In the swimming pond you will find summer coolness or winter kicks (after a visit to the sauna!). But just as well observe the aquatic life in amazement from the terrace.
Nature and surroundings
The Lembeek woods are a stone's throw from Ghent. A private road along the property gives you direct access to hours of hiking fun and nature experience. Situated on a historic sand drift sand ridge, you will initially encounter a landscape of coniferous forests (here and there heather relicts). Gradually it changes into moister, older deciduous forest (Kwadebossen) with a more diverse fauna & flora. Were already spotted: The Kingfisher, the black woodpecker, families of deer & rare mushrooms. The Drongengoedbosbos, arboretum Het Leen, the creeks area and the Dutch coast are also nearby. This nature house is located between the villages of Sleidinge and Lembeke (Kaprijke). Besides the regular offerings in the local supermarkets, you will find some fine addresses for local delicacies nearby. On Saturday there is a weekly farmers' market in Kaprijke, and there is a bus (Line 56) to and from Ghent every hour. The stop is 50m from the property.
