Welcome to our outdoor retreat on the edge of the Lembeekse Bossen! Whether you’re seeking peace and quiet, enjoying a forest bath, foraging for wild foods, or cooking outdoors, you’ll find everything you need here. We’re committed to biodiversity and positive interactions between people and the environment. Inside the chalet, you’ll find a cozy living area with a wood stove, a kitchen and bathroom equipped with all the necessary comforts, and a bedroom with a view. The shelves are stocked with a curated selection of books, games, and handmade ceramics. Year-round, you can gather delicacies from the permaculture garden and the food forest: herbs, perennial vegetables, tubers, berries, fruit, and mushrooms. A flock of chickens provides your daily eggs. With your harvest, you can get to work in the covered kitchen unit, in the clay oven (pizza/bread), or at the three-pronged spit. The swimming pond offers summer refreshment or winter thrills (perhaps after a visit to the wood-fired sauna). Or you can simply sit back and peacefully observe the rich aquatic life from the terrace. No one else stays here, so privacy is guaranteed.

The Lembeek Forests are located in the Meetjesland region, just a stone’s throw from Ghent. A private road running alongside the property gives you direct access to hours of walking enjoyment and the chance to experience the forest and nature. Situated on a historic drifting sand ridge, you’ll first encounter a typical landscape of coniferous trees. Here and there, you’ll also find remnants of heathland or ongoing restoration projects. Gradually, the landscape transitions into a more humid, older deciduous forest (the Kwade Woods). These areas are home to a more diverse array of flora and fauna. Species already spotted include the kingfisher, the black woodpecker, families of roe deer, and rare mushrooms. The Drongengoedbos, the Het Leen arboretum, the creek area, and the Dutch coast are also nearby. This nature house is situated between the villages of Sleidinge and Lembeke (Kaprijke) and, more broadly, between the cities of Ghent and Bruges. A bus runs every hour both ways to and from Ghent. The bus stop is nearby, just 80 meters from the property. On Saturdays, there is a weekly farmers’ market in Kaprijke.
