Welcome! We’ve renovated and furnished this place with love and care, and we hope you’ll enjoy it just as much as we do. This luxurious cottage with wellness facilities is fully equipped: comfortable box-spring beds, a fully stocked kitchen, a hot tub, a sauna, an outdoor shower, 2 bathrooms, internet, TV, and a lovely sunroom where you can enjoy the fireplace in the evening! The cottage is cozy enough to rent as a couple (in which case you’ll rent only the lower level: 1 bedroom + ensuite bathroom) but can accommodate up to 8 people. The living room, with its open kitchen and dining area, is approximately 30 m²—keep that in mind if you’re planning to book for 8 adults. We recommend a maximum of 6 adults, but the cottage is actually very well-suited for a booking involving, say, two families. The fireplace heats the sunroom, so you can enjoy a cozy atmosphere here even in winter! All in all: enjoy the coziness with spacious bedrooms, a sauna, a hot tub, a roaring fire, and each other’s company! Please note: we charge a 40e fee for unlimited use of firewood!
Nature and surroundings
Our cottage is located right in the woods. Wake up to the sound of birds—other than that, you won’t hear a thing here! The path behind the house leads you straight into the woods. There are several cottages in this forest, but thanks to the distance between the lots (our lot: 1,000 m²), there’s plenty of privacy. The charming village of Norg is within walking distance (15–20 min), but we recommend exploring the area by bike as well. Two bikes are included in the rental, as are four children’s bikes. You can bike to Norg (5–10 min) to enjoy an ice cream, grab a bite to eat, or take part in the local pub quiz. Or you can bike to the old prison colony of Veenhuizen, with its museum and quaint houses featuring unique restaurants and artisan shops (30 min). There are also kilometers of hiking and biking trails in the area that lead to unique natural sites and villages. Assen, Groningen, and Drachten are the nearest major cities. They’re 15, 20, and 40 minutes away by car, respectively.

We loved everything and had a wonderful time. The only thing we missed was some storage space or cabinets in the living room. Other than that, everything was absolutely perfect.
