We offer unique accommodations: a handmade Finnish kota in picturesque Wadway. Nestled among the meadows, right in the heart of West Friesland. Close to the IJsselmeer, the VOC city of Hoorn, and other Zuiderzee towns. Bustling Amsterdam and the North Holland coast are just a half-hour drive away, as is the “Cheese City” of Alkmaar. For stays of at least 3 nights, enjoy one free use of the sauna. The sauna and hot tub are closed during the months of July and August. A unique sleeping experience in a Finnish Kota, with a beautiful garden and a refreshing swimming pool (unheated). There is a sofa bed for a third person in the living room. The kota is also fully equipped with a functional kitchen, an induction cooktop, a combination microwave oven, and coffee and tea-making facilities. There is a private bathroom with a shower at the back of the kota.
Nature and surroundings
Our Kota is situated in a secluded spot behind our house, overlooking our beautiful garden. You’re also welcome to use our wood-fired sauna and hot tub. Please bring your own bath slippers and large towels. We live in a rural area with many traditional North Holland farmhouses.There are beautiful bike routes here through picturesque villages. Hoorn’s city beach is located on the IJsselmeer, a 10-minute drive from our vacation home. By bike, it’s a half-hour ride. Two bikes are available for free use. We recommend taking the steam tram from Hoorn to Medemblik; from there, you can continue by steamboat across the IJsselmeer to Enkhuizen and return to Hoorn by train. The Zuiderzee Museum in Enkhuizen is also well worth a visit! From our Kota, you can reach the beautiful town of Schoorl on the North Sea in less than half an hour. There, you can enjoy cycling or hiking through the woods and dunes. There’s also a mountain bike trail—the largest and most scenic in the Netherlands. Bikes are widely available for rent there.

It was really nice that there was a pool, too.
The hosts were also very friendly people.Heel erg leuk dat er ook een zwembad bij was.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The cottage is fully equipped and put together and decorated with great care. Also the hot tub and sauna were wonderful and in addition super attentive and hospitable hosts. Definitely recommended:)
We hebben heel erg genoten van ons verblijf. Het huisje is van alle gemakken voorzien en met veel zorg in elkaar gezet en aangekleed. Ook de hot tub en de sauna waren heerlijk en bovendien super attente en gastvrije verhuurders. Zeker een aanrader!:)

Goede bedden/slaapbank en veel zitmogelijkheden in de tuin, die voorzien is van een zwembad en hottub. Wat we ook erg gewaardeerd hebben zijn de twee fietsen die we konden lenen. In de omgeving kun je er lekker op uit trekken naar bijvoorbeeld Texel, het IJsselmeer of Friesland
