Our Little Yellow House is the ultimate spot for bon vivants, water enthusiasts (canoes and SUP boards are included), and birdwatchers. The cottage is located in a small park near the Leekstermeer, and with your swimsuit under your bathrobe, you only have to walk 30 meters to take a dip in the water. During your stay, you can relax in and around the cottage. The large fenced-in garden has plenty of seating areas with sun or shade, sheltered from the wind or out in the open. On a cold evening, you can light the pellet stove in the cozy living room. The kitchen is simple but has everything you need to prepare a delicious vacation meal, and for those who enjoy it, there are two grills (gas and charcoal). The cottage has two bedrooms, including one in the detached garden house, which is heated if needed and perfect for children or friends. In the morning, step right out into the garden through the French doors with your cup of coffee or tea (always in stock) and enjoy—just as we always love to do ourselves—our lovingly decorated, colorful cottage!
Nature and surroundings
Our Little Yellow House is located in a small-scale vacation park on the Leekstermeer (the largest lake in Drenthe) and borders the Onlanden nature reserve (about 3,500 soccer fields in size). The park features several swimming docks and spots where you can launch a stand-up paddleboard or canoe. From the cottage, you can easily walk or bike right into the nature reserve, where you can enjoy an area teeming with birds. A 10- to 20-minute drive (or 20- to 40-minute bike ride) away are beautiful wooded areas in Roderwold/Roden and Norg. If, in addition to nature, you’d also like to enjoy a livelier atmosphere, you can reach the city of Groningen within half an hour by bike (or 10 minutes by car). The esdorp of Roden is also nearby, offering a bit more peace and quiet than the big city, yet still featuring all kinds of amenities (supermarkets and shops). The park itself features a pavilion where you can enjoy delicious food and drinks with a beautiful view of the Leekstermeer.
