Welcome to beautiful Drenthe! Our nature houses are wonderfully hidden among the trees, nice and free from everything. You wake up with the birds and the buzzing of the bees. Furthermore, you can see beautiful dragonflies and butterflies flying and the squirrels shooting through the trees. There are several hiking trails on our property, in addition to a natural swimming pond, a sauna and hot tub. Both of these can be booked with your stay on site. The swimming pond with sun terrace can be used at all times during the stay. Kitchen & bed linen are included in the price. There is a bbq area available and fire may be made in the fire bowls. The guest bathroom is located in the main house.There is no running water in the cottage. There is an electric 2-burner stove, kettle and senseo available. Our core values are hospitality, peace, simplicity and natural living.
Nature and surroundings
Klazienaveen is originally a peat colony, created in the nineteenth century.The canal village falls under the municipality of Emmen. The local sheepfold is the largest in the Netherlands. The area and village is famous for Vincent van Gogh. There are many stores and some restaurants present in the center (2 km). In addition, there is a market on Fridays. The open green city of Emmen (12 km) is also worth a visit with its cozy terraces. In addition, you can visit Germany. The peat plays a prominent role in Klazienaveen and the surrounding villages and nature. They owe their existence and form to the peat extraction. Tip: go to the Veenpark in Barger-Compascuum. This open-air museum tells the history of the peat area and the peat colonies. So you really understand what happened here. Not all the peat has been excavated, because in nature reserve Veenland a piece of raised bog covering 2,100 hectares has been preserved. This nature reserve is called the Bargerveen (5 km).
