The cottage is in a farmyard and is called the Milk Barn. The farm has not been in operation for several years. Goats used to be milked in the Melkstal. The cottage has its own entrance, a separate bedroom with double box spring bed, a double box bed (1.60 x 2.00 m), a living room with open kitchen, a shower/WC and a private fenced terrace. Behind the terrace is a large garden (the Goat Meadow) with a beautiful old walnut tree in the middle. Most of the time you can use it. There is coffee and tea, sugar, filter bags, salt and pepper, toilet paper, shower gel and shampoo, hand soap and dish soap. Children find the box bed a joy to sleep in. If two adults or a married couple want to sleep in the box bed, it is certainly possible. However, it is a good idea to consider in advance whether the box bed provides enough privacy and room to move around if you plan to stay longer than 2 nights. One or two dogs are welcome: playing in the fenced goat pasture is allowed.
Nature and surroundings
The Milk Barn is located on a former farmyard on the Grebbelinie and the Valley Canal. The Grebbelinie is a Long Distance Walk that runs from Spakenburg to Rhenen with traces of the past: a lock dating back to the 18th century, casemates, bunkers, and a museum bunker within walking distance. Along the footpath on the Liniedijk are QR codes that tell even more about the history of the area. Amersfoort is over 5km away, Utrecht 15km, Amsterdam 35km. At 500 meters you can rent canoes and boats and there is a dog beach and a loose-leash area within walking distance. Behind the cottage is a Tourist Transfer Point. The Termatenpad (Klompenpad of 13.5 km) starts here and there are several bicycle routes. Behind the cottage is also a Tea House, where you can have lunch or a cup of coffee.
