Nature and surroundings

Nestled in the Dutch province of Utrecht, the small village of Kockengen has a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages. Despite its size, Kockengen played a crucial role in the development of the region's agriculture and trade, and remnants of its past can still be seen in the village's charming architecture and quaint streets. HISTORY, ART, AND CULTURE However, the surrounding area is where the real magic lies. Visitors can explore the opulent De Haar Castle, which dates back to the 14th century and was extensively restored in the late 19th century. The castle itself is a masterpiece of Gothic and Renaissance architecture, with a moat, drawbridge, and imposing towers that give it a fairytale-like appearance.
