In the middle of a beautiful protected nature reserve lies an island with a number of cottages, including our cottage No. 7. Your adventure begins immediately when you get into a rowing boat (for rent at the Zwethoeve) and after rowing for about 10 minutes you arrive at our little island. You will be surprised by the wide view and the beautiful and sheltered garden. The cottage is simple, equipped with central heating and hot water and a wood stove. In warm weather, jump into the ditch for some cooling or grab a sup to paddle around and explore the area. The large terrace has a picnic table, a nice lounge sofa under the canopy and a BBQ. There are 2 small bedrooms: a 'bedstead' with a double bed (160x200) with a nice view over the water, and a bedroom with a bunk bed and a separate bunk bed. Suitable for 2 adults and 3 children. Enjoy nature, the birds, the garden and all the seasons you can experience so beautifully here.
Nature and surroundings
The Wormer and Jisperveld consists of hundreds of meadows surrounded by reed beds and narrow ditches. It is the largest contiguous peat meadow area in Western Europe. This nature reserve is jointly managed by farmers and nature monuments. In spring it is teeming with meadow birds. Especially for the bird lovers a large offer: godwits, lapwings, redshanks, black-headed gulls, common terns, lesser black-backed gulls and even the spoonbill and kingfisher can be found here.
