Nature house in Oude Willem

There were three of us staying in this cottage. I think it would be uncomfortable to stay here with eight people—it’s just too small for that. It’s a real woods cabin with a cold, uneven floor and lots of spiders. You can enjoy the view outside through the windows. There are three bedrooms downstairs and one more upstairs. The upstairs bathroom is large, but the shower was disappointing because the water quickly pooled in the bathroom. The bathtub was wonderful. The downstairs shower is small but very nice. There’s a toilet on both the upper and lower floors. The bed was very soft. So was the couch. For our comfort, both were too soft. The kitchen was fine and easy to use. In previous reviews, we read about the lack of cleaning supplies. This time, they were available—there was a vacuum cleaner, a broom, dishwasher tablets, dish soap, and cleaning solution. Unfortunately, we needed the vacuum cleaner and broom right away. The floor wasn’t clean, and there were lots of cobwebs. The shower drain upstairs was also clogged. We contacted the owner, and the issue was resolved promptly and professionally. It was a pleasure dealing with them!
By the way, you pick up the key for the cottage in the village down the road—a 6-minute drive from the nature house itself.

Wij zaten met 3 personen in dit huisje. Het lijkt mij onprettig om hier met 8 personen te verblijven. Daar is het te klein voor. Het is een echt boshuisje met koude ongelijke vloer en veel spinnen. Door de ramen kan je lekker naar buiten kijken. Beneden zijn er 3 slaapkamers, boven nog een slaapkamer. De badkamer boven is groot maar de douche viel tegen doordat het water snel de badkamer in liep. Het bad was heerlijk. De douche beneden is klein maar wel heel fijn. Zowel boven als beneden is er een toilet. Het bed was zeer zacht. De bank ook. Voor ons comfort beide te zacht. De keuken was prima en goed te gebruiken. In vorige reviews lazen wij over het gebrek aan schoonmaakspullen. Dit was nu wel aanwezig, er was een stofzuiger, bezem, vaatwasblokjes, afwasmiddel, en schoonmaakmiddel. De stofzuiger en bezem hadden wij helaas wel meteen nodig. De vloer was niet schoon en er hingen veel spinnenwebben. Ook was het douch putje boven verstopt. We namen contact op met de verhuurder en dit werd meteen netjes opgelost. Fijn contact gehad!
De sleutel voor het huisje haal je overigens in het dorpje verderop op. 6 minuutjes rijden vanaf het natuurhuisje zelf.

The surroundings are beautiful. Within a few minutes’ walk, you’ll find yourself in a grazing area with a large herd of Sayaguesa cattle. There are plenty of options for both short and long walks. The Bosweg is fairly close by, and you can sometimes hear cars driving by. Other than that, you hardly notice it.
We also spotted a roe deer from the cottage. In the evening, you can hear animals running across the roof—we guessed they were squirrels. In short, it’s a fantastic setting for nature lovers.

De omgeving is prachtig. Binnen een paar minuten loop je een begrazingsgebied in met een grote groep Sayaguesa runderen. Met voldoende mogelijkheden voor zowel korte als lange wandelingen. De Bosweg zit redelijk dichtbij en je hoort soms autos rijden. Verder merk je hier weinig van.
Ook zagen wij een ree vanuit het huisje. In de avond hoor je de dieren over het dak lopen, wij gokte op eekhoorntjes. Kortom, fantastische omgeving voor natuurliefhebbers.

The location is great and the space has potential, but there is room for improvement. A little more available cleaning supplies would be nice. Dishwasher tablets, detergent, wipes all had to be facilitated by yourself now. The biggest downside to the house is that it is really very dirty. Dirty floors, a thick layer of dust everywhere on cabinets and lamps. The walls are full of stains and it smells musty. The sliding door needs to be checked, it goes very stiff. Also, the sinks and shower drain do not run smoothly. While it could be a nice house, these things make the experience and value for money a lot less. By the way, the landlord was super friendly and helpful.

De locatie is fantastisch en de ruimte heeft potentie, maar er kan wel wat aan worden verbeterd.

Iets meer beschikbare schoonmaakspullen zou prettig zijn. Vaatwastabletten, schoonmaakmiddel, doekjes moesten nu allemaal zelf gefaciliteerd worden.

Het grootste minpunt aan het huis is dat het echt heel vies is. Vieze vloeren, overal een dikke laag stof op kasten en lampen. De muren zitten vol met vlekken en het ruikt er muf.

De schuifdeur moet worden nagekeken, deze gaat zeer stroef. Ook lopen de wasbakken en douche afvoer niet lekker door.

Hoewel het een mooi huis zou kunnen zijn, maken deze dingen de ervaring en prijs-kwaliteit verhouding een stuk minder.

De verhuurder was overigens super vriendelijk en behulpzaam.
