In a former fattening silo is built this unique 4 person nature house, 2 fully equipped apartments for 2 people. Together and yet separate, ideal for a getaway with friends or a family with older children. During your stay you have complete privacy because of the accompanying private garden and terrace, from which you overlook the endless meadows. Upon arrival, the delicious box springs are made for you, the hand and kitchen towels are ready and there is always a cleaning kit and a starting supply of coffee / tea, dishwasher tablets and salt / pepper present. The silo is located behind our 1910 thatched farmhouse on the longest orchard in Europe, known for its beautiful old pear trees. From your cottage you are so in the National Parks the Dwingelderveld and the Drents-Friese Wold. The apartments in the silo can also be booked separately, each for 2 persons. In the pictures you will find a plan of the vacation home and the layout of the east and west side.

Nature and surroundings

From the Silo you can enjoy hiking and biking in the vast natural areas and cozy villages, Our yard is located on a 7 kilometer long old farm country road. From Silo161 you can directly reach all kinds of attractions, start a walking tour or pick up a bike route. Within cycling distance 2 dolmens, Museum Farm De Karstenhoeve, the cozy villages Ruinen, Dwingeloo and Havelte with restaurants. The historic town of Meppel with nice stores and restaurants and of course Giethoorn, the Venice of the North. 3 national parks, including sheep herds and visitor centers. Inspiring visitor gardens, River Valley the Reest, the natural border with Overijssel, Staphorst, Sea Museum Miramar. With a short drive The Drents Museum in Assen, Wildlands Zoo, Emmen. Cities like Zwolle, Leeuwarden and Groningen and smaller towns of Steenwijk and Hoogeveen for shopping and museums. Discover the Hunebed Highway on the Drentse Hondsrug and Museum Village Orvelte. Drenthe, peace, space and plenty to do.
