Nature and surroundings
The cabin can be found in a nature reserve in the Oostwaard, a polder with fields, creeks and beautiful views. It is known for the Oostwaardpad, a 21-km hiking trail including a tow ferry across the Bakkerskil River. There is a good chance of seeing deer. The nearby national park the Biesbosch is a watery and unique area where you can wander fantastically because of the many willows and willow forests. Who knows, you might spot a kingfisher, bald eagle or osprey. The beautiful Biesbosch Museum Island tells the interesting history of this watery area and the important function the Biesbosch has for flora, fauna and (drinking) water management. In the Land of Heusden and Altena you cycle or walk over centuries-old, idyllic dikes, along the Merwede or dammed Maas, interspersed with farmland. You will find Dussen castle, old forts of the Dutch Waterline and the beautiful fortified town of Woudrichem.
