Welcome to our former studio, which has been lovingly renovated into a cozy and modern nature house with a touch of vintage charm. The cottage is situated in a secluded spot in the garden of the owner—an artist and teacher—adjacent to a quiet, charming walking path in the heart of the beautiful Heuvelland region of South Limburg. It offers plenty of space and privacy for two people. From your private garden terrace, you’ll enjoy an unobstructed view of the meadows, with the setting sun on the horizon, where the village center of Banholt lies. It’s a 5- to 10-minute walk there, past the sheep and horses. For colder days, the pellet stove is stocked. You can also use the quiet split-system air conditioner for both heating and cooling. There’s a TV with Netflix. Bedding and towels are provided. The refrigerator has only a small freezer compartment. Our enthusiastic puppy, Sammy, will want to greet you, but he’s not allowed on your patio (unless you’d like him to join you). The old cat flap now serves as the “ventilation flap.”
Nature and surroundings
The main house is located on a dead-end street in Terhorst, a small hamlet of Banholt. Just around the corner, you’ll find yourself in a quiet area inhabited by badgers, foxes, roe deer, owls, and countless species of birds. The area offers many hiking and biking trails (with trail junctions) and is ideal for those who enjoy peace and nature. The village has a supermarket, restaurant, café, and a fry shop. Parking in front of the house is free. Bikes can be stored indoors and charged for free. For a fun city trip just a short drive away: Maastricht (15 minutes), Liège (25 minutes), and Aachen (40 minutes). You’re also close to the border with the Voerstreek region in Belgium. There’s a public transit bus stop in the neighboring village. We can pick you up or drop you off there, but this depends on the day and time. Our village has centuries-old traditions, including the annual “Den halen” festival and the Bronk procession on Pentecost. The Amstel Gold Race also passes through here. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
