The house is located right on the inland harbor and has been completely gutted, renovated to a high standard, and furnished with care and style. There are two bedrooms on the first floor with a spacious bathroom featuring a shower/tub combination and a towel warmer. On the third floor is the yoga suite, where you can sleep in, meditate, and practice yoga. The ground floor features a well-equipped kitchen and a spacious dining and living room with a comfortable sleeper sofa. The ground floor has underfloor heating, and the Dutch tiles date back to the 18th century. On the walls, you’ll find paintings by Timo von Eicken and local artists from the north. The terrace opens off the dining area and leads to the courtyard, where you can enjoy meals and sundowners after great outings. Water sports are available right outside the door; two kayaks, a Canadian canoe, and two SUPs are available free of charge. There’s a boat dock where you can easily launch the water sports equipment.
Nature and surroundings
Friedrichstadt, also known as “Little Amsterdam,” is a paradise of water and nature. The canals and the Treene River right on your doorstep offer plenty of opportunities for water sports, as well as beautiful walks in nature along the water. Friedrichstadt is never overcrowded, even in high season; the peace and tranquility that pervade the area—and especially the Dutch influence evident in the historic, protected facades of the houses—are truly unique. Friedrichstadt is a town of free thinkers—as small as it is, it’s home to a wide variety of religions. Small shops and restaurants right on the canal give you that vacation feeling. The train station is right nearby, so you can leave your car behind or even travel here without one, since there are great connections for lovely day trips and everything in Friedrichstadt can be explored on foot. The market square is just a 3-minute walk away.
