It was a lovely little house, very clean, and everything was there

Het was een prachtig huisje, goed schoon en alles was er aanwezig

The owners are friendly. The cottage is the front part of a former farmhouse, recognizable by the upstairs room where the single bed stands. It felt nostalgic to briefly open the hatch leading to the former pantry cellar, which is located beneath the upstairs room. In the former pantry, the boiler hangs from the ceiling and regularly turns on and off. That explains the noise at night near the head of the bed.
The nature reserve can be reached via the main road, partly along a bike path and partly along the main road itself. There are a few beautiful hiking trails there. It’s well worth a visit to unwind.

De eigenaars zijn vriendelijk. Het huisje is het voorhuis van een voormalige boerderij, herkenbaar aan de op-kamer waar het eenpersoonsbed staat. Het voelde nostalgisch om even het luik naar de voormalige provisiekelder te openen die zich onder de op-kamer bevindt. In de voormalige provisiekelder hangt de verwarmingsketel die regelmatig even aanslaat en weer uitslaat. Dat verklaart het geluid ‘s nachts bij het hoofdeinde van het bed.
Het natuurgebied is te bereiken via de doorgaande weg, deels over een fietspad, deels over de doorgaande weg. Daar lopen een paar mooie wandelroutes. Het is de moeite waard om daar tot rust te komen.

The cottage is spacious, clean, and equipped with everything one could need, but it’s located on a busy thoroughfare next to a neighborhood supermarket, with a cooling unit against the outer wall that runs day and night, emitting a piercing hum. There was a lot of commotion around the cottage—cars passing by the window, adults with children going to or from the adjacent daycare center. The dog kept barking at them. I now appreciate the peace and quiet at home all the more. I felt the urge to go home earlier.

Het huisje is ruim, schoon en voorzien van alles wat iemand nodig heeft, maar het ligt aan een drukke doorgaande weg naast een buurtsuper met tegen de buitenmuur de koeling die dag en nacht draait met een doordringend bromgeluid. Om het huisje was veel reuring, auto’s langs het raam, volwassenen met kinderen die naar of van het naastgelegen kinderdagverblijf gingen. De hond sloeg er telkens op aan. De rust en stilte thuis waardeer ik nu des te meer. Ik had de neiging eerder naar huis te gaan.
