Enjoy our Drenthe hideaway! Walk in 10 minutes to the bright blue recreational lake Gasselterveld / 't Nije Hemelriek. Or bike and walk around in the beautiful nature. Ideal for couples or families (max. 2 adults, 2 children), the bungalow can accommodate up to 2 adults and 2 children (with a double bed and a bunk bed). The living room is equipped with a dining area, pallet stove to keep warm even in winter. The open kitchen has an oven and gas stove, large refrigerator with freezer, dishwasher and Nespresso machine. The cottage has a separate toilet and new comfortable bathroom (2025). Good working WIFI available. Enjoy during all seasons the spacious garden full of birds, with trampoline, fire basket and picnic table. The cottage is located on a small-scale bungalow park. At the beginning of the park you will find a playground, reception and laundry facility.
Nature and surroundings
At about 10 minutes walking distance from "dondersmooi" you will find the Gasselterveld & 't Nije Hemelriek. Not for nothing Het Gasselterveld is nicknamed the "Maledieven of the Netherlands". Enjoy the tranquility and nature in the early morning, paddle on one of the beaches, have lunch on the terrace of the brasserie (or at one of the food trucks in high season), and/or live it up in DX Adventure Park. Several hiking trails also run near the clear blue lake. At Buitencentrum Boomkroonpad various cycling and hiking routes start through the vast nature of the Hondsrug. You can also visit this visitor center for all kinds of activities, a presentation about forest life and a store with fun stuff. If you want to see the forest from a different perspective, take a walk along the Boomkroonpad.

Jannes December 27, 2025 General rating:The park is beautiful, the cottage was thunderously disappointing. Garden/exterior door in the room had gaps and did not close properly. There was a constant draft. The controls for the front blinds were hidden behind the refrigerator, could only be reached with difficulty. There were large cracks in two thermopane windows. Some of the room windows on the garden side have no curtains/luxaflex in front, some of the curtains that were present were hanging loose from the rail. The kitchen inventory is extremely sparse. There were no measuring cups, soup, gravy or ladles. We bought those ourselves. Crockery or cutlery was just enough for 4 people; two large cooking pans, a large frying pan, and a kind of wok to prepare food in. There is no storage space in the kitchen for your groceries. Of the comforters provided, only one was a winter comforter. The second person present put two summer comforters on top of each other to still sleep somewhat warm. Despite the cottage, still enjoyed....
Het park is mooi, het huisje viel donders tegen. Tuin-/buitendeur in de kamer had kieren en sloot niet goed af. Het tochtte constant. De bediening van de luxaflex voor zat verscholen achter de koelkast, kon je slechts met moeite te pakken krijgen. Er zaten grote scheuren in twee thermopane ramen. Een gedeelte van de kamerramen aan de tuinkant zit geen gordijnen/luxaflex voor, een gedeelte van de wel aanwezige gordijnen hing los uit de rail. De keukeninventaris is uiterst karig. Er waren geen maatbekers, soep-, jus- of bolle opscheplepels. Die hebben we zelf maar gekocht. Serviesgoed of bestek was precies genoeg voor 4 personen; twee grote kookpannen, een grote koekenpan, en een soort van wok om eten in te bereiden. Er is in de keuken geen opbergruimte voor je boodschappen. Van de aanwezige dekbedden was er slechts één een winterdekbed. De tweede aanwezige persoon heeft twee zomerdekbedden op elkaar gedaan om nog enigszins warm te kunnen slapen. Ondanks het huisje, toch genoten....

Maar zal zijn omdat het winter is. verder is het mooie meer te lopen en is er genoeg in de omgeving te beleven. nog een minpuntje is dat we aan de achterkant geen gordijn hadden.
