Our cottage is located on private land of 540m² and faces south. It has a large garden enclosed with plants and a spacious canopy. On the terrace is a barbecue and there are several places to sit, alone or together. There is a spacious, cozy living room, where you can have a great time if it were to rain all day. There are games, comic books and magazines in the basket. There are two bedrooms, 1 with a double bed and 1 with a bunk bed. The chalet can accommodate 4 people, but there are two extra mattresses, which can be put in the bedrooms or the spacious living room. We recently bought this cottage and have pretty much refurbished it inside. The garden was tackled in 2023 with a beautiful wooden veranda around the house, a hammock behind the house adjacent to the bush and many plants that are now allowed to grow out nicely and give lots of color in the summer.
Nature and surroundings
In the middle of the Drenthe Hondsrug on the edge of 2500 hectares of beautiful forest is our summer cottage within walking distance of the azure swimming lake "t Nije Hemelriek". The chalet is on the side of the small vacation park. The vacation park is in 2023 taken over by Siblu vacation parks so the atmosphere is slightly changed. There are more chalets together what gives a less idyllic impression when you enter. However, once in our house you sit completely free and on the edge of a forest and in the shelter. On the last photos is the park and our location well to see from above and also how close the beautiful lake is. In short, still a wonderful place to stay.

This cottage was very disappointing due to the fact that it was far from clean and the many defects. Yes, it had been vacuumed and the refrigerator was clean, but otherwise the cleaning was limited to "a wipe here and a wipe there." The dining table in the living room was so dirty that you stuck to it and the TV and stereo were terribly dirty, not to mention the sink, faucet and cabinet handles. Really dirty. We were very disappointed. Furthermore, the toilet seat was so loose that every time you sat on it, it shifted, the blinds in the living room could not be raised / lowered because the strings were so tangled (pictures available), the (ecru) outdoor cushions were covered in filthy, indefinable stains, and a whole list (and pictures available), but no more space here..... :-( For 152 per night, definitely not a recommendation. Don't do it we would say. Very unfortunate.
Dit huisje viel erg tegen vanwege het feit dat het verre van schoon was en de vele mankementen. Ja, er was gestofzuigd en de koelkast was schoon, maar verder was het schoonmaken beperkt gebleven tot "hier een veeg en daar een veeg". De eettafel in de woonkamer was zo vies dat je eraan bleef plakken en ook de tv en stereo waren vreselijk smoezelig, om over de gootsteen, kraan en handgrepen vd kasten maar niet te spreken. Echt vies. Dat viel ons enorm tegen. Dus bij aankomst eerst in de weer en poetsen, wat een tegenvaller!
Verder zat de wc-bril zo los dat iedere keer dat je erop ging zitten, deze verschoof, de rolgordijntjes in de woonkamer konden niet omhoog/beneden want de touwtjes zaten zo in de knoop (foto's beschikbaar), de (ecru) buitenkussens zaten onder de smerige, ondefinieerbare vlekken, en nog een hele lijst (en foto's beschikbaar), maar geen ruimte meer hier..... :-(
Voor 152 per nacht bepaald geen aanrader. Niet doen zouden wij zeggen. Erg jammer.The surroundings of Gasselte are beautiful. Forests, fens, the Drentse Aa, the Hondsrug.
