On our farm BoerdeHeij we have transformed an old barn into an attractive and complete camping cottage where you keep the outdoor feeling by the open front of the living room. The cottage is in a beautiful spot, between meadow and forest, away from traffic, but close to nature and (hobby) farm life. All facilities are under one roof: a kitchen, compost toilet and hot shower. The unique interior gives the cottage character: sustainably built with pallets, old floorboards, brocante panel doors and recycled cabinet parts. In the bedroom you will find a made-up, spacious double bed (160x200cm) with, for those who wish, an electric blanket, extra wool blankets and an electric heater. Experience "back to basics": unwind, make a campfire or light the wood stove inside on colder days. Even when the weather is not so good, it is great to stay in this cozy nature house. Ideal for those who appreciate simplicity, sustainability, rural living and the outdoors.
Nature and surroundings
Our place is located in Elim in southern Drenthe between Hoogeveen and Coevorden. Our lot is 300 meters from the public road and is adjacent to woods and meadows where you can have a nice walk around. We have created a paddock paradise for our 3 horses, complete with hills, nibble bushes and waterhole. There is also a large vegetable garden whose harvest we are happy to share with you. We try to house and garden our horses in such a natural way. So no tightly landscaped borders or neat stables here. Besides our 3 horses live here 2 cats and Guus our pot-bellied pig. You are also bound to meet the neighbors' chickens and the 2 peacocks that roam freely here. The immediate vicinity consists of many meadows and bushes and fifteen minutes walk from the larger forest and recreation area of Plan Schoonhoven. Here you can walk various routes and in fine weather take a refreshing dip in the swimming pool. The area is perfect for hiking, cycling and other excursions.

We had a wonderful weekend in the camping cottage! It was cold outside, but thanks to the fire pit, wood stove, electric blankets and electric stove, it was doable. The owners offer two packages for cooking on the firepit, a pancake package and a stew package. Both are carefully prepared by the lady of the house and are very tasty! And cooking on the fire is of course just a lot of fun. The owners are very friendly and always open for a chat, but otherwise give you all the peace and privacy to enjoy nature in silence. We will definitely come back again. Absolutely recommended.
Wij hebben een heerlijk weekend gehad in het kampeerhuisje! Het was koud buiten, maar dankzij de vuurkorf, houtkachel, elektrische dekens en elektrisch kacheltje goed te doen. De eigenaren bieden twee arrangementen aan om te koken op de vuurkorf, een pannenkoeken arrangement en een stoofpot arrangement. Beide worden met veel zorg voorbereid door de vrouw des huizes en zijn dan ook erg lekker! En koken op het vuur is natuurlijk gewoon ontzettend leuk. De eigenaren zijn erg vriendelijk en staan altijd open voor een praatje, maar geven je verder alle rust en privacy om in stilte te genieten van de natuur. Wij komen zeker nog eens terug. Absoluut een aanrader.
