In the middle lies a lovely pond with two small islands. Right next to the campground is our own magnificent Borkerheide. Here you’ll find the peace and space that make the estate such a delightful vacation spot. The kids can have a blast. Climbing trees, building huts from branches in the forest, searching for the “white women” on the heath—and, of course, there are a few playground structures and a bouncy castle. Or they can head to the swimming pool in the woods next to the campground. This is available free of charge to all our guests (the pool is open from approximately April 1 through September 1). From the estate, you can walk straight into the beautiful Drenthe countryside, yet the charming town of Westerbork is only about 1 km away. There you’ll find the lively atmosphere of restaurants, outdoor cafes, and charming shops, as well as supermarkets, bakeries, and cafeterias.

When we arrived, the property was one big construction site, and the treehouse had been completely emptied—there was only a couch, a dining table, chairs, and a new bed. No decorations, nothing at all… Upstairs, the loft bed had been removed, and in the living room, we almost sank through the floor, and part of the roof covering outside was missing.
The property has been taken over and is undergoing a complete transformation; we were informed of this via email just barely four weeks in advance, but we were told we wouldn’t be bothered by construction work anymore and that the treehouse had received an “upgrade”—but what a disaster! Two very upset children.
Conclusion: We were forced to book another vacation park on the spot at 4:30 p.m. at the last minute.
