We have transformed our more than 300-year-old carriage house into a romantic B&B for two people. The cozy living room overlooks the farmyard, where the old haystack roof of the farmhouse (a 1720 national historic landmark) stands. The living room features a sofa in front of the TV and a breakfast and coffee table. A spacious bathroom with a bathtub, walk-in shower, toilet, and sinks is located on the ground floor. A fixed staircase leads to the attic bedroom, which has a double box-spring bed. Enjoy a delicious breakfast on your private terrace in the early morning sun. And at sunset, sip a glass of wine at your own seating area by the water. Free parking. Bicycles can be stored under cover and charged in our “Oude Kalverstal.” Includes organic coffee (Nespresso) and tea, as well as vegan bath and shower products. There is an extensive breakfast menu. Fresh and local (organic) products are lovingly prepared for you daily. Breakfast is optional (not included in the room rate). No kitchen, but a mini-fridge is available.
Nature and surroundings
Our B&Bs and vacation home are located on the 5,500 m² grounds of a beautiful farmhouse dating from 1720, almost entirely surrounded by water and situated in the globally unique polder landscape. Our dog, chickens, and ducks roam freely on our property. The sheep are kept behind a fence. Many birds—including waterfowl—and hares can be spotted in the surrounding landscape. The historic building is one of the oldest farms on this road. As you drive up the cast-iron drawbridge, you’ll feel as if you’ve stepped back in time. One old farmhouse after another lines the rural area, which transitions into a quiet zone. The farmland landscape of the Krimpenerwaard offers peace and quiet, beautiful nature, and plenty of opportunities for walking, boating, or biking. But the chance to seek out the hustle and bustle—including in the nearby historic town of Gouda (5 km)—is also a nice change of pace. Gouda and many other picturesque villages and towns offer plenty of great restaurants and a lively atmosphere.
