Nature house in Holten

The photos and the text promise something that isn’t (entirely) true. From the (previous) stove, the flue pipe in the ceiling—which has been cut off and sealed with tape—is still very much in evidence. The cottage is certainly not “large and luxurious”; it’s very small (there’s no closet space to store your clothes, and there’s no shelf in the very small shower stall). The faucet in the kitchen and the one in the shower leak like a sieve (and this isn’t a recent problem)—it’s a shame to see all that precious drinking water just leaking away. The window screens aren’t installed everywhere (I have no idea if they ever were), and the way they’re mounted is rather unusual, making them non-functional in some places.
Does this mean you can’t stay in the cottage? No, of course not, but there are certainly some issues to address.

Thank you very much for your review. We’re sorry that your stay didn’t fully meet your expectations and would like to clarify a few points. The cottage has the same decorative stove as shown in the photos, and the ceiling is professionally and safely covered. The bathroom was recently completely renovated, and we have not detected any leaks from the shower faucet. The leaky kitchen faucet has since been repaired. There are several coat hooks and a clothes rack available for hanging clothes. We will check the installation of the window screens and make improvements where necessary. It’s a shame you didn’t contact us during your stay, as we’re happy to resolve any issues right away. Due to the very hot days, birds and other animals are seeking water and relief from the heat more often, which may temporarily reduce the amount of wildlife visible. We take your feedback seriously and will use it to further improve your stay.

De foto’s en de tekst beloven iets wat niet (helemaal) waar is. Van de (vorige) kachel is de doorgehaalde en met plakband dichtegeplakte kachelpijp in het plafond nog nadrukkelijk aanwezig. ‘Groot en luxe’ is het huisje zeker niet; het is erg klein (kastruimte om je kleding in op te bergen ontbreekt, een plankje in de zeer kleine douchecel ontbreekt). De kraan in de keuken en de kraan in de douche zijn zo lek als een mandje (en dat is niet van recente datum), zonde van al het kostbare drinkwater wat zomaar weglekt. De horren zijn niet overal aanwezig (geen idee of dat ooit wel zo geweest is), de bevestiging van de horren is bijzonder te noemen en daardoor niet overal functioneel.
Kun je hierdoor niet in het huisje verblijven? Nee hoor, maar er zijn dus wel kritische noten te kraken.

Hartelijk dank voor uw review. We vinden het jammer dat uw verblijf niet volledig aan uw verwachtingen voldeed en willen enkele punten verduidelijken. In het huisje staat dezelfde sfeerkachel als op de foto’s en het plafond is professioneel en veilig afgedekt. De badkamer is recent volledig vernieuwd en wij hebben geen lekkage aan de douchekraan geconstateerd. De lekkende keukenkraan is inmiddels gerepareerd. Voor kleding zijn meerdere kapstokken en een dressboy aanwezig. De bevestiging van de horren zullen wij controleren en waar nodig verbeteren. Het is jammer dat u tijdens uw verblijf geen contact met ons heeft opgenomen, omdat wij problemen graag direct oplossen. Door de zeer warme dagen zoeken vogels en andere dieren vaker water en verkoeling op, waardoor tijdelijk minder wildlife zichtbaar kan zijn. Wij nemen uw feedback serieus en gebruiken deze om het verblijf verder te verbeteren.

The surroundings are very quiet. You can hear traffic on the A1 day and night. Plenty of privacy. To our utter surprise, we also heard and saw very few birds.

Omgeving erg rustig. Het verkeer op de A1 is dag en nacht hoorbaar. Veel privacy. Tot onze stomme verbazing ook zeer weinig vogels gehoord en gezien.

It was clean and there was nice and friendly contact with the owner. The only thing is: It is cramped. The two bedrooms are small and with our two small babies it became a real challenge. So if you have any doubts about coming with small children, this is not recommended.All in all we had wonderful days!

Heerlijke omgeving! Midden in de bossen. Hier kom je echt even tot rust. De snelweg ligt wel redelijk vlakbij, maar dat hoor je niet.

Het huisje is fijn en knus. Het was schoon en met de eigenaar was er fijn en vriendelijk contact.

Het enige is wel: Het is krap. De twee slaapkamers zijn klein en met onze twee kleine baby's werd het toch echt een uitdaging. Dus mocht je twijfelen om met kleine kinderen te komen, is dit niet aan te raden.

Nice cottage, nice and modern and fully equipped. Good beds, a full kitchen and a cozy living room. Even coffee and tea were ready, as well as some chocolates and sweets. Of course, the presence of the Jacuzzi (which was already nicely preheated) in the lovely garden and sauna complete the picture. Why not 10? As far as we are concerned, there were a few improvements possible; - the description mentions the presence of a fridge/freezer. This is only a refrigerator; no freezer; - the microwave part of the combi oven could not be used because the tray did not rotate (broken spindle); - the light of the extractor was defective; - it was very cold in bed at night on the one hand because the bedrooms have only smooth and on the other hand because the thermostat goes to 10 degrees at eleven o'clock in the evening.

Lekker huisje, leuk en modern ingericht en van alle gemakken voorzien.
Goeie bedden, een complete keuken en een gezellige woonkamer.
Zelfs koffie en thee stonden klaar, alsmede een aantal bonbons en snoepjes.
Natuurlijk maken de aanwezigheid van de jacuzzi (die al lekker voorverwarmd was) in de heerlijke tuin en de sauna het plaatje compleet.
Waarom geen 10? Er waren wat ons betreft een par verbeteringen mogelijk;
- in de beschrijving wordt de aanwezigheid van een koel/vriescombinatie genoemd. Dit is alleen een koelkast; geen vriezer.
- het magnetron deel van de combi-oven kon niet gebruikt worden omdat het plateau niet draaide (kapotte spindel).
- het licht van de afzuigkap was defect.
- het was 's nachts erg koud in bed enerzijds omdat de slaapkamers nog enkel glad hebben en anderzijds omdat de thermostaat om elf uur 's avonds naar 10 graden gaat.

Delightful location close to lots of nature and also nice cities. Wonderful to look in the garden at beautiful birds and squirrels. Some noise in the background from the A1 highway, but certainly not annoying or disturbing.

Heerlijke lokatie dicht bij veel natuur en ook leuke steden.
Prachtig om in de tuin te kijken naar mooie vogeltjes en eekhoorns.
Iets geruis op de achtergrond van de A1 snelweg, maar zeker niet hinderlijk of storend.
