This nature house models the typical beauty of the Minho region. The house is located in a beautiful spot, surrounded by the acclaimed green fields as found in this region. It is a historic house with many characteristic details, but it has been adapted to modern times and equipped with all the comforts for comfortable enjoyment. On the estate you will find a covered area and the threshing floor where once the grain was laid out to dry and also the large, special "espigueiro"; these are the typical, oblong silos of this region where the grain, and especially corn, was then stored. The people of Abadim are warm and cheerful; they are simple and hospitable people who live largely from farming and animal husbandry. They often carry out their tasks in a very traditional way, and you will frequently see cows and goats grazing in the adjacent pastures.
Nature and surroundings
Three kilometers away from the house, still within the village limits of Abadim, you can visit several water mills built by order of King Rei D. Diniz (13th century) and thus bearing the name "Moinhos de Rei," or the king's mills. They are scattered in an extensive, protected forest area of the same name.Along routes you will also get to know the rich variety of flora and fauna found in the Serra da Cabreira. At some distance there are two beautiful national parks, Alvão and Peneda-Gerês.The attractive geographical location of the nature house allows you to enjoy both the beneficial tranquility of the countryside and the mountains, as well as the proximity of beautiful cities with a rich offer of historical heritage, such as Porto, Braga and Guimarães. The coast, with beautiful beaches, can be reached in 45 minutes.A 10-minute drive away, in Cabeceiras de Basto, you can do your shopping and there is a weekly market with local products.
