The nature house is located between two old cheese-cover farmhouses, in the Harger and Pettemerpolder behind the Hondsbossche Zeewering. The polders, which have not been parceled out since the Middle Ages, are now largely owned by Natuurmonumenten and an important nature reserve, where it is great walking and cycling. Our nature house is on private land with a garden at the side and back with a beautiful view over the polder where you can enjoy a sunset or for the early birds a sunrise. Our nature house is located in the middle of Natura 2000 area. A nature reserve in which you can walk and cycle for hours. The Schoorl dunes and beach are within walking distance of the cottage. Here you can enjoy a wide beach and a vast sea. The historic polders are also well worth a walk or bike ride. The area is of great importance for many species of birds with the special place being the Wells, a lake area just behind the dike. Species such as spoonbill, avocet, shelduck, great tern, curlew, black-tailed godwit and pygmy goose forage in this area and a bird-watching hut was recently installed. The whole area is excellent for cycling with numerous cycling routes and in the dunes one of the most beautiful MTB routes in the Netherlands. Bikes and MTBs can be rented in Groet. The cozy centers of Schoorl and Bergen offer a very wide range of restaurants, terraces, cafes, nice stores, museums, galleries and various (cultural) events.

A lovely, tastefully decorated nature house surrounded by nature, with a large garden featuring as many as four seating areas. Since there’s virtually no traffic, the sounds of birds take center stage! The surroundings are beautifully expansive and gave us a sort of Wadden Islands vibe. The cottage is tastefully decorated, and everything you need is provided. It’s great that there are plenty of built-in fly screens, because there are a lot of flies outside due to the nearby riding stable. In the garden, we saw lots of sparrows, house martins, and even a greenfinch and a goldfinch.

Het is fijn dat er ook veel horren zijn ingebouwd want door de nabij gelegen manege zijn er buiten veel vliegen.
