The nature house is located between two old cheese-cover farmhouses, in the Harger and Pettemerpolder behind the Hondsbossche Zeewering. The polders, which have not been parceled out since the Middle Ages, are now largely owned by Natuurmonumenten and an important nature reserve, where it is great walking and cycling. Our nature house is on private land with a garden at the side and back with a beautiful view over the polder where you can enjoy a sunset or for the early birds a sunrise. The garden has a lawn, a few terraces with furniture and at the back a small pond that serves as a frog and toad pool. The cottage has an open kitchen/living room with wood stove and French doors to the garden. On the ground floor is a small bathroom with shower and toilet. On the second floor are two bedrooms, one of which has a sink. Next to the house is a private parking space for 1 large or two small cars in a row. 7m
Nature and surroundings
Our nature house is located in the middle of Natura 2000 area. A nature reserve in which you can walk and cycle for hours. The Schoorl dunes and beach are within walking distance of the cottage. Here you can enjoy a wide beach and a vast sea. The historic polders are also well worth a walk or bike ride. The area is of great importance for many species of birds with the special place being the Wells, a lake area just behind the dike. Species such as spoonbill, avocet, shelduck, great tern, curlew, black-tailed godwit and pygmy goose forage in this area and a bird-watching hut was recently installed. The whole area is excellent for cycling with numerous cycling routes and in the dunes one of the most beautiful MTB routes in the Netherlands. Bikes and MTBs can be rented in Groet. The cozy centers of Schoorl and Bergen offer a very wide range of restaurants, terraces, cafes, nice stores, museums, galleries and various (cultural) events.
