This nature house is located on the First floor of a former cowshed. Relax in your own hot tub, infrared sauna, or under the rain shower. Bedding and towels are provided. Start the next day off right with a nice cup of coffee or good tea (provided). There’s a well-equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, combination oven/microwave, and beautiful Iittala tableware and silverware. The lodge consists of a single open space and has no lockable rooms. A delicious bottle of wine will be waiting for you upon arrival. If you’d like to start the day with a tasty breakfast, you can! We offer a Heerman breakfast box (vegetarian option available), enough for 2 mornings / 2 adults, featuring delicious local products. We’ll hang fresh bread in a bread bag on your door every morning. On Sundays, enjoy a late checkout (6:00 PM)—take advantage of a “Lazy Sunday,” which you can book on-site. Due to allergies, pets are not allowed. There are 3 lodges on the farm.
Nature and surroundings
The nature house is nestled among the meadows and forests of the Twente countryside. Here, you can experience the peaceful, everyday farm life and become part of the “de Mekkelhorst” hamlet for a few days. The entire area is part of the “Northeast Twente National Landscape.” Bordering neighboring Germany, you can easily reach the spa towns of Bad Bentheim, Nordhorn, or Gildehaus. Within walking distance lies the ’t Lutterzand nature reserve, featuring sand drifts, heathland, and pine forests.
