Nature house in Nutter

The nature house is a simple little house that’s part of a peaceful park (Bij de Bronnen). The house is completely secluded: it overlooks a rolling meadow and borders directly on Het Springendal, a nature reserve you can walk right into from our house (see the photos). We love visiting it ourselves and are happy when it’s occupied in between our stays. On the porch, you can sit outside dry and sheltered all year round. Inside, too, you’ll be comfortably surrounded by greenery: the living area has windows (double-glazed) on three sides and overlooks the meadow and our spacious wooded garden. Otherwise, it’s a simple cottage with everything you need, such as central heating, kitchen supplies, Wi-Fi/smart TV (NPO Plus with NPO 1, 2, and 3, plus all kinds of series, documentaries, and movies), a nice shower, and comfortable mattresses. PLEASE NOTE *Bring your own bed linens and towels!

The neighboring Springendal is also known as “the Garden” of the Netherlands, a nature reserve with picturesque seepage ponds, small waterfalls, and narrow streams in the middle of the forest. The area is home to unique plants such as juniper bushes, floating water plantain, and golden saxifrage, as well as animals like the kingfisher, the gray wagtail, and the brook lamprey. And of course, there are also various species of birds of prey, woodpeckers, owls, roe deer, rabbits, and squirrels, which can regularly be spotted around the house. Together with the Mosbeek Valley (near Vasse), it forms a large hilly area on the Ootmarsum moraine, which is perfect for long hikes and bike rides. Ootmarsum, the oldest town in Twente, is 2.5 kilometers away. It’s a lively town with a historic downtown, attractions, and many galleries that have earned Ootmarsum the reputation as the “Art City of the East.” Oldenzaal and the German border are also nearby—including Bad Bentheim, which is just a short drive away.
