Nature house in Järpen

The house is an old farm house, very isolated in a nature conservation area. There is no power or water, just solar 12V for charging and a little light, and water from the creek/river or from the lake.There is a sauna with a bucket shower, or we wash in the lake or in the snow. The facilities are basic, but the house is roomy and cozy. Under renovation, so things aren´t hotel standard, but the beds are good and the air is fresh, and it´s more quiet than you have ever heard, and darker at night than anywhere else. No artificial light anywhere. Visitors can rent a radiotelephone for communication with the outside world, since there is no cell signal around the house. There is cell phone signal here and there if you walk a mile in the forest. Satellite internet is being installed some time in the future , for basic communication use, weather reports, messages and emergencies, but is not available atm. The toilet is an old outhouse, but facilities are being upgraded.

The house is in a nature conservation area. There are no neighbours, but some nights you can see a light on a cabin 5km away. There are several lakes that are good for swimming, the forests are untouched, hardly any trails and no roads - except those made by moose. To get to the house you need to walk or ski for about 90 minutes, or you can book boat transportation in summer and snow mobile transportation in winter. The forest and mountains are full of berries in the autumn, in good years. The lake has plenty of fish. You can see reindeer and moose around the house some times, and both foxes and rabbits traffic the area. The surroundings are dark and quiet, and we want to keep it that way. Dark skies, northern lights, a million stars, and true silence.
