Completely renovated in 2026. Wake up in the woods, to the sound of birds singing and nothing but silence. After years of traveling for 3 op Reis and KLM, we—Daan and Ruben—built everything here that we ourselves missed along the way. The result: here, you’ll have absolutely nothing to worry about. The kitchen has everything you need for a delicious meal; you can easily play your favorite music through the speakers in every room; and from games to shower gel and shampoo—all you need to bring is a clean pair of underwear. There are two bedrooms with double beds. One has a loft with two extra sleeping spots; the other is a self-contained studio with its own bathroom, projector, and coffee corner—where munching squirrels will wake you up. The garden is full of hidden seating spots and walking paths: read in the hammock, do yoga under the pine trees, forage in the food forest, grill in the outdoor kitchen, or bake pizzas in the fireplace. Afterward, sweat it out in the six-person Finnish sauna. And there’s always an emergency stash of wine on hand for when things get cozier than planned.
Nature and surroundings
The nature house is located at the foot of Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park. From the garden, you can walk or bike right into the heathland and forests, where you might spot roe deer and rare birds. Grab one of our four (road) bikes and pedal up the rolling hills, passing delightful restaurants and even a Twente vineyard. In the village, you’ll find our favorites: an artisanal bakery, a great butcher, and, as the icing on the cake, a little cheese shop with cheese from their own farm. In the mood for something quick? Grab some fries at our favorite snack bar or stay with us and order a smash burger from the best local delivery service. You’ll ride through the trees right up to the door and enjoy complete privacy. Taking public transit? Holten Station is 2 km away, with bike rentals right next door. The surrounding area has plenty to offer within biking distance, from the Holterberg Nature Museum to the Hellendoorn Observatory, and we’re happy to share our restaurant recommendations: from fine dining to a simple bite to eat. Everything’s close by, though chances are you won’t even want to leave the property.

Something to keep in mind: the double bunk bed is a little harder to climb into if you’re not as flexible as you used to be. But other than that, they’ve really thought of everything. Plenty of closet space, hooks, and places to put your own things, a very well-stocked kitchen—there was even sunscreen!

Voldoende kastruimte, haakjes en plekken om eigen spullen neer te zetten, een zeer complete keukeninventaris, er was zelfs zonnebrandcreme!

The sauna was the icing on the cake—relaxation is the top priority at this nature house. All four of us have quite a bit of experience with all kinds of cottages in the Netherlands, but we’ve never come across such a fully equipped one anywhere else. We’d love to come back again. Een prachtig huis met alles erop, eraan en erin, smaakvol ingericht en werkelijk van alle gemakken voorzien. Bij aankomst stond er een fles wijn klaar en voelden wij (vier vriendinnen) ons gelijk welkom. Ook de boskamer (bed/badkamer/koffiehoek/eigen entree) voldeed aan de verwachtingen. De tuin was prachtig, er is een voedselbos (gedeeltelijk nog in wording) met kruiden en fruitbomen, diverse zitjes en ook de tuin is van alle gemakken voorzien. De sauna spande de kroon, relaxen staat voorop in dit Natuurhuisje. We zijn alle vier best wel ervaren met allerlei huisjes in Nederland, maar zo'n compleet huis hebben we nog nergens aangetroffen. We komen graag nog een keer terug. Daan en Ruben, ontzettend bedankt!
