Nature house in Wanssum

The house is wonderfully spacious and minimalist. No unnecessary frills. The air conditioning was great this week and even reaches the bedroom. That meant we could snuggle up together on the 1.40m bed! We had a wonderful week.

Het huis is heerlijk ruim en strak. Geen overbodige poespas. De airco was deze week heel fijn en bereikt ook de slaapkamer. Daardoor konden we knus bij elkaar liggen op het 1.40m bed! Wij hebben een heerlijke week gehad.

We had a wonderful week at the house in Wanssum. The beautiful floodplains with amazing sunrises, the cows that sometimes moo a bit “over the top,” the many birds, and even a weasel. The garden is wonderful; we explored every corner of it. Especially since the temperature dropped from 40 degrees to 20 degrees. Cycling along the Maas was fun. The beautiful Leukermeer and Maasduinen National Park are definitely worth a visit.
The owner is a friendly man who really looks out for his guests.

Wij hebben een heerlijke week gehad in het huis in Wanssum. De prachtige uiterwaarden met geweldige zonsopgang, de koeien die soms wat “overspannen” loeien , de vele vogels en zelfs een wezel. De tuin is geweldig, we hebben alle hoeken wel gehad. Ook omdat de temperatuur van 40 gr naar 20 gr ging. Langs de Maas fietsen was leuk. Het mooie Leukermeer en nationaal park Maasduinen is zeker aan te raden.
De eigenaar is een vriendelijke man met aandacht voor zijn huurders.

The cottage itself was fine, but the bed was too small for two people. The mattress was very hard.
There were five small towels in the bathroom that didn't smell very fresh for two people from Monday through Friday. Luckily, we brought our own towels.

Huisje op zich prima maar bed te klein voor 2 personen. Zeer hard matras.
Er lagen 5 kleine niet fris ruikende handdoeken in badkamer voor 2 personen van maandag tot vrijdag. Gelukkig zelf handdoeken meegenomen.

The art of omission has not resulted in any shortcomings here. Routines that you follow at home—and that often draw comments elsewhere—are handled here in a smart and intuitive way.

De kunst van het weglaten heeft hier niet geleid tot gemis. Routines die je thuis hebt en vaak elders leiden tot opmerkingen, zijn hier slim en intuïtief geregeld.

Simplicity in all its glory! And functional, too. That makes this cottage an experience in itself. When we were there, it was hot, but the AC works perfectly in that case. We spent our time relaxing (which was our goal), and it worked out perfectly thanks to the lounge chairs outside and the sofa with ottomans inside. We also took the dog for walks in the floodplains and greeted lots of cyclists; in the village itself, we visited the bakery and the supermarket and took a trip to Germany. There’s plenty to do here, but doing nothing is perfectly fine, too. In short—a top spot.

Eenvoud in al zijn pracht! En ook nog eens functioneel. Dat maakt dit huisje een beleving op zich. Toen wij er waren, was het warm maar de airco doet z'n werk dan prima. Wij hebben heerlijk geluierd (dat was ons doel) wat goed lukt dankzij de ligstoelen buiten en de bank met poefjes binnen. Verder gewandeld met de hond in de uiterwaarden en veel fietsers begroet, in het dorpje zelf de bakker en de supermarkt bezocht en een uitstapje gemaakt naar Duitsland. Er kan hier heel veel, maar niksdoen mag ook gewoon. Kortom - topplek
