Vacation on a quiet sheep farm, among the sheep with lambs! Enjoy all the farm animals and life here. You are staying where threshing used to be. The cottage is furnished with great care with reused, natural materials. Because a lot of wood has been used, the cottage feels comfortable. The threshing doors have been replaced by three sliding glass doors making it wonderfully light inside. Coffee and tea are provided and a freshly laid free-range egg in the morning. On the mezzanine is slept in a double bed. Upon request, this bed can be split and made up as two single beds. The south-facing terrace is a wonderful place to hang out, with the many barn swallows flying over your head. You can put your chair anywhere in the yard where it is comfortable at the time. Also in our little forest in the back of the yard or in the middle of the sheep. There is parking in our yard and a covered bicycle shed. The free bikes are at your disposal.
Nature and surroundings
The cottage is located on an authentic dyke dead end for cars, in the middle of the meadows. Plenty of sheep, meadow birds, swallows, geese, harriers. Enjoy when in March the barn is full of newborn lambs. Later in the spring the coastal region is in full bloom. Our farmhouse is located 2.5 km south of the center of Schagen, where several restaurants and cozy terraces are located. From the cottage several walking routes are possible. The surroundings are great for cycling or hiking. The beach is nearby with cozy resorts and free parking. The Zwanenwater in Callantsoog is a beautiful nature reserve as well as the dunes of Schoorl. Cycling on the West Frisian dyke is a must. A day trip to the Wadden Island Texel is easily done from this location. The farm is centrally located between the larger cities of Hoorn, Alkmaar and Den Helder. The farm has a wool store. Possibility of a workshop felting with the wool of our own herd.
