Vacation on a quiet sheep farm, among the sheep with lambs! Enjoy all the farm animals and life here. You are staying where threshing used to be. The cottage is furnished with great care with reused, natural materials. The wood paneling creates a pleasant atmosphere. The threshing doors have been replaced by three sliding glass doors making it wonderfully light inside. Downstairs is a sitting area with kitchen. Coffee and tea are available and in the morning a freshly laid free-range egg. Also here is a bathroom with toilet, sink and shower. On the mezzanine is slept in a double bed. Upon request, this bed can be split and made up as two single beds. The south-facing terrace is a wonderful place to stay, with the many barn swallows flying over your head. In the woods at the back of the yard is our windmill that provides green electricity. There is parking in our yard and covered bicycle storage. Free bikes are available for you.
Nature and surroundings
The cottage is located on an authentic dyke dead end for cars, in the middle of the meadows. Plenty of sheep, meadow birds, swallows, geese, harriers. It is wonderful living in the countryside where nature prevails and worries give way to relaxation. Enjoy when in March the barn is full of newborn lambs. Our farmhouse is located 2.5 km south of the lively market of Schagen, where several restaurants and terraces are located. Of course a visit to the North Sea coast with its cozy seaside resorts and bulb fields is only 11 km away. The area is great for cycling or hiking. Several short walking routes are possible from the cottage. Cycling along the West Frisian dyke is highly recommended. A day trip to the Wadden Island Texel is also easily done from this location. There is a wool store on the farm. Possibility of a workshop felting with your own wool.
