A vacation on a peaceful farm, surrounded by sheep. Enjoy all the farm animals and life here. You’ll be staying where the threshing floor used to be. The cottage has been furnished with great care using reclaimed, natural materials. The extensive use of wood gives the cottage a cozy feel. The threshing floor doors have been replaced with three glass French doors, flooding the interior with lovely light. Coffee and tea are provided, and a freshly laid free-range egg is available in the morning. The loft features a double bed. Upon request, this bed can be separated and made up as two single beds. The south-facing terrace is a wonderful place to relax, with many barn swallows flying overhead. You can set up your chair anywhere on the property, wherever it’s most pleasant at the moment—even in our small woods at the back of the property or right among the sheep. There is parking on our property and a covered bike shed. The free bikes are ready for you to use.

The cottage is located on an authentic little dike that’s a dead end for cars, right in the middle of the meadows. There are plenty of sheep, meadow birds, swallows, geese, and harriers. Later in the spring, the coastal region is in full bloom. Our cottage is located 2.5 km south of the charming center of Schagen, where you’ll find various restaurants and cozy outdoor dining areas. There are several hiking trails starting right from the cottage. The surrounding area is perfect for cycling or hiking. The beach is nearby, with charming seaside towns and free parking. The Zwanenwater in Callantsoog is a beautiful nature reserve, as are the Schoorl Dunes. Cycling along the West Frisian ring dike is highly recommended. A day trip to the Wadden Island of Texel is easily doable from this location. The farm is centrally located between the larger cities of Hoorn, Alkmaar, and Den Helder. I thought the beds were a little too narrow. I think they were about 70 cm wide. I was practically sleeping next to them.
