The landscape around Norg is formed by ash trees, stream valleys, forests and heathlands. Many customs of the past, such as mowing, haying and grazing, are still continued here. On the ash fields grain is grown. The Norger Esdorpen Landscape includes the Norgerholt and the Tonckensbos. Between Norg, Peest and Donderen is the Noordsche Veld, where you imagine yourself on the great silent heath of the past. Scottish Highlanders and a beautiful herd of land goats have taken over the task of the sheep herd. They create an old-fashioned heathland, where vipers, lizards and birds such as curlews and stonechat sparrows feel at home. The North Field is archaeologically of international importance. You will find, on the road between Peest and Zeijen, a dolmen and numerous burial mounds and old field complexes, the so-called celtic fields.
