Nature house in Schalkwijk (Houten)

You are looking for a place in nature and you have already seen the forests? And the sea too? Then we would like to welcome you to the Kromme Rijnstreek, then you really have something else! Schalkwijk is a tiny village in the middle of the farming landscape, just below Houten. A place with beautiful farms, lots of water, vast fields and polders. Our loft is the place to really get acquainted with this piece of Dutch nature. The nature house is located at the very back of our property and therefore you have complete privacy. There is a private entrance and there are two terraces. One overlooks the meadow with the pear tree, the Herenpeer, where the sheep often seek shelter in summer. The other is located next to the Loft, where you can also relax. Inside there is room for up to 5 p. In the large room there is a double bed (two single beds). And the small bedroom has a three-person bunk bed. The space is therefore also excellent for two couples.

NATURE & ENVIRONMENT Immediately adjacent to the loft you look out over the meadows. Sheep in the pasture complete the picture. At the end, in the distance, you see the dike. You can walk here just fine. Because less than 15 minutes from the farm is behind the dike a recreational beach, located on De Lek. Lovely to spend summers there with some sun and a picnic basket. But it is also beautiful in lesser weather. The views of the Lek have been described by our previous guests as breathtaking. And that is true: the current, the trees here and there, geese flying overhead, a small island and in the distance on the other side of the water you can still see the church tower of Culemborg peeking out above the landscape. With Farm De Zalm as a start... You are welcome. As you walk down the dike along the Lek and turn right, you pass apple orchards and many farms. It is wonderful walking in the Kromme Rijn area with a huge diversity of experience.
