Nature house in Ruinen

From this nature house, you’ll enjoy a beautiful view of the garden and the meadows, where you have a good chance of seeing deer. Many birds and squirrels forage for food in the garden. The living room of this nature house features a flat-screen TV with a digital connection and is equipped with Wi-Fi. There is also an open kitchen with cooking facilities, including a small oven/microwave, a Nespresso coffee machine, a kettle, and an air fryer—perfect for baking your own bread, among other things. This two-person lodge has a separate bedroom and a shower/toilet. You have access to a private sun terrace. It’s also pleasant to relax in the shade under the walnut tree in front of the cottage. The spacious garden with a pond offers various seating areas, and a spacious covered panoramic terrace with a lounge area and a bar overlooking the garden and fields. The Eekhoorn cottage is located near the Bosuil cottage. Here, you can fully enjoy the peace and space on and around the property. There is a charging station available for your electric bikes.

Our nature house is located in Dwingelderveld National Park, the largest wet heathland area in Western Europe and the quietest area in the Netherlands. There you’ll find heathland, forest, shifting sand dunes, and more than forty ponds. Thanks to the diversity of the Dwingelderveld, it is home to a wide variety of plants and animals. There are countless ways to enjoy this unique landscape. You can hike, bike, run, ride horses, and watch birds from hides and behind screens. The Natuurmonumenten visitor center is within walking distance of our cottages, and the Ruinen sheepfold is nearby. It’s the ideal base from which to explore the area. Charming villages like Dwingeloo and Diever are well worth a visit, and a trip to the hunebeds is a must. The Drenthe National Park has three hunebeds. The village of Ruinen has several cozy restaurants and bars, and a supermarket.
