This nature house is located in the part of our farm, where we try to apply as many principles of self-sufficient living as possible. In the garden, we use permaculture and agroforestry to develop an edible garden. We have planted several edible plants and fruit trees, and we keep animals for grounds maintenance, eggs and meat. At night it is dark and quiet here. The apartment is partly furnished with second-hand things and is cleaned with ecological cleaning products. We dry laundry on the line as much as possible. We feed leftovers to the animals. You have a private terrace at your disposal, but you are also welcome in other places in our garden. We have a number of fire places where you are allowed to light a fire. Please note: there is a considerable step between the bedrooms and the bathroom, the cottage is therefore less suitable for people with mobility problems. We also rent this accommodation as a studio under number 76860.
Nature and surroundings
The farm is located exactly between the villages of Norg, Een, Langelo and Westervelde in the head of Drenthe. In the immediate vicinity you can enjoy nature through an extensive network of unpaved roads and paths. You can enjoy walking and cycling here. Just a few hundred meters away are the Mill Dunes, a beautiful forest with numerous trails. Or take a walk from Westervelde along the Slokkert stream valley, where curlews nest in the spring. Norg is a nice village with the necessary amenities (supermarkets, bakery, restaurants and an indoor swimming pool). Westervelde is an old esdorp with a hunebed. Nearby are also Veenhuizen (nominated UNESCO World Heritage Site) and you will find the nature reserves Fochteloërveen and the Onlanden. A little further away is Assen (15 minutes drive), city of Groningen is half an hour by car. We will gladly show you the way!
