Nature house in Den Hoorn

It is a beautiful monumental building equipped with all comforts. It is just not that cozy, very clean and bare, but that is personal taste.What was very disturbing is that it was dirty. There was not/barely cleaned. The smell of sleep still hung in the bedroom, there was no vacuuming, the sofa was covered with crumbs and hair, the toilet still had fecal traces of the previous tenants, garbage can was not emptied and was infested with fruit flies, kitchen cabinets dirty, light cups dirty, toothpaste blobs ... So dirty. Our arrival was on Sunday (no one could be reached) and so we just spent our first afternoon cleaning. But of course the disappointment was great and it left a big mark on the vacation mood. I proposed to the manager to reimburse the cost of our first day (100,-), but it was found that cleaning had been done, just not well enough and 45 euro (50% of cleaning costs) was refunded, hence the 6.

Het is een prachtig monumentaal pand voorzien van alle comfort. Het is alleen niet zo gezellig ingericht, erg strak en kaal, maar dat is persoonlijke smaak.
Wat erg storend was, is dat het vies was. Er was niet/nauwelijks schoongemaakt. De slaaplucht hing nog in de slaapkamer, er was niet stofgezogen, de bank zat onder de kruimels en haren, de wc was nog voorzien van ontlastingsporen van de vorige huurders, afvalbak was niet geleegd en was vergeven van de fruitvliegjes, keukenkastjes vies, lichtkopjes vies, tandpastaklodders... Vies dus. Onze aankomst was op zondag (niemand bereikbaar) en dus hebben we onze eerste middag maar besteed aan de schoonmaak. Maar de telleurstelling was natuurlijk groot en het drukte een grote stempel op de vakantiestemming. Ik heb de beheerder voorgesteld de kosten van onze eerste dag (100,-) terug te boeken, maar men vond dat er weldegelijk was schoongemaakt, alleen niet goed genoeg en er werd 45 euro (50% van de schoonmaakkosten) vergoed.

The cottage is definitely very nice, but is located on a through road opposite the beautiful little church of Den Hoorn. This church attracts very many visitors, so there is constantly a lot of traffic in front of the door. The terrace at the back is a wealth and very quiet with beautiful views of the meadows and there are sheep as neighbors. From the cottage nature is easily accessible by bike/car.

Het huisje is zondermeer erg mooi, maar ligt aan een doorgaande weg tegenover het prachtige kerkje van Den Hoorn. Dit kerkje trekt zeer veel bezoekers, dus is er constant veel drukte voor de deur. Het terras aan de achterkant is een weelde en erg rustig met mooi uitzicht op de weilanden en er zijn schaapjes als buren. Vanuit het huisje is de natuur goed bereikbaar per fiets/auto.

It is a beautiful cottage, outside and certainly inside. Although many advantages and beautiful sides, it did not score 10 for 3 reasons: 1) in front of the cottage is a church with a cemetery. This may not be a problem, as long as you know it in advance. Children do not like this. 2) there was a smell of smoke when we arrived. After a bit of airing this was completely gone, so not a problem either, but not what you expect from a nature house. 3) the bed downstairs has a cabinet right above the headboard. I personally did not like that.Again lovely house, fully equipped, so the above are purely dotting the i's.

Het is een prachtig huisje, van buiten en zeker ook van binnen. Hoewel veel voordelen en mooie kanten, heeft het om 3 redenen geen 10 gescoord:
1) voor het huisje staat een kerk met een begraafplaats. Dit is wellicht niet erg, als je het maar weet van te voren. Kinderen vinden dit niet fijn.
2) er hing een rookgeur toen we aankwamen. Na een beetje luchten was dit helemaal verdwenen, dus ook geen probleem, maar niet wat je verwacht van een natuurhuisje.
3) het bed beneden heeft een kastje precies boven het hoofdeinde. Dat vond ik persoonlijk niet lekker liggen.

Nogmaals heerlijk huis, van alle gemakken voorzien, dus bovenstaande zijn puur puntjes op de i.

Beautifully situated just outside Den Hoorn. The view behind the house with sheep in the meadow is idyllic. Because of the church (and cemetery) opposite the cottage, the street is quite busy during the day. This does not bother you much.

Prachtig gelegen, mooi gesitueerd net buiten Den Hoorn. Het uitzicht achter het huis met schapen in de wei is idyllisch.
Vanwege de kerk (en begraafplaats) tegenover het huisje, is het overdag vrij druk op straat. Hier heb je weinig last van.

With the wood stove were no poker and tongs also no steel bucket to put the ashes in . Had reported this but got no response . If there would be a fire this is the first thing they would fall over .

Bij de houtkachel zaten geen pook en tang ook geen stalen emmer om het as in te doen .
Had dit gemeld maar kreeg geen reactie .
Als er brand zou ontstaan is dit wel het eerste waar ze over vallen .

Very much enjoyed the view and of Texel . We would definitely like to return here again.

Heel erg genoten van het uitzicht en van Texel .
We zouden zeker nog een keer hier naar terug willen
