Pentedattilo is undoubtedly one of the most picturesque places in the Mediterranean. Situated 250 meters above sea level, and only 10 min. by car from the Sea, it stands perched on the cliff of Mount Calvary, with its characteristic shape resembling that of a cyclopean hand with five fingers, and from which the name of the village in the Greek language πέντα-δάκτυλος (transliterated pènta-dàktylos), meaning "five fingers." A timeless place, full of fascinating suggestions and breathtaking views. It is set in the context of the so-called "Area Grecanica," cradle of a very ancient civilization, that, precisely, of the Greeks of Calabria. Because of its strategic location from Pentedattilo it is possible to move nimbly by car or motorcycle and reach in a short time the beautiful and crystal clear waters of the Ionian Sea or explore the Area Grecanica, with its extraordinary villages perched in the Aspromonte.
