Pampus was once a sandbank of the IJ. East Indiamen sailing back to Amsterdam would come to a standstill there at low tide. 'Lying in front of Pampus' therefore finds its origin here. Fort Island Pampus was built between 1887 and 1895 and is part of the Defense Line of Amsterdam. Our cabin has a toilet and kitchen inside with water and an outdoor shower!
