Old log cabin with two bedrooms on the second floor, one with four single beds suitable for children and one bedroom with a double bed. Lower floor is just one large room with a small fireplace (wood stove) for cooking. Table with wooden benches and space for at least seven people. Also a sofa that can be used as an extra bed for two people. There is also possibility to cook on gas (Muurikka summer kitchen). Outside there is a small fireplace with roof where we usually barbecue and spend evenings by the fire. Sauna is located by the stream that crosses the area. That is also where we take our drinking and cooking water from. All day sun from the river bank. Covered terrace at the front of the cabin with table and chairs for 4. A bench as well. Great for sitting outside in case of rainy days.
Nature and surroundings
Wilderness cabin with no neighbors. There is no street address. Cabin is located on the Österdalälven River in the north of Dalecarlia near the small village of Särnaheden but on the other side of the river. This is a reindeer area, so chances are you will encounter many of them. You get there by car but the road is not very good. 20 kilometers to the villages of Särna and Idre. About 50 kilometers to the Norwegian border and lots of nature to explore in the area. The highest waterfall in Sweden is about 50 kilometers from the cabin. Great hiking opportunities. There is a fantastic bass fishing lake near a cabin in the forest. It is also possible to use our small fishing boat with 2hp motor or a fishing kayak. This wilderness cabin is a paradise for nature lovers and a bit of an adventure for "back to basics" looking families. No electricity and the toilet is an old-fashioned cottage in the corner of the land. Very nice sandy beach right by the river/cabin.

Unbedingt Empfehlenswert!!This is the ideal accommodation for all nature lovers and for those who simply want to switch down a gear! We had a wonderful time fishing, having a sauna and enjoying the whole location. You can enjoy nature to the full (PS: greetings from the reindeer). (PS.: Greetings to the reindeer) and in bad weather it is really cosy in the hut with the wood-burning stove. The rustic sauna and the fireplace with covered seating round everything off. For all those who shy away from the cold wash in the lake, there is a shower about 20 minutes' drive away, as well as a supermarket. We were there with four adults and all had enough space. The landlord is super nice and did everything to ensure that we could really enjoy our time. A really likeable person! THANK YOU FOR THAT!

Für alle, die die kalte Wäsche im See scheuen, steht in ca. 20 Fahrminuten eine Dusche zur Verfügung, ebenso wie ein Supermarkt.
Waren mit vier Erwachsenen da und hatten alle ausreichend Platz.
Der Vermieter ist supernett und hat alles dafür getan, dass wir die Zeit richtig genießen konnten.

Especially after riding one of the available boats which are belonging to the cabin and catching fish in big lake. Hiking around was another adventure our 4 year old child - and us. We did meet rain dears, foxes and even see traces of bigger animals. In the evening we did use the sauna quite often to make another day complete. If you are looking for a place of the grid but with a lot of benefits this place is what you are looking for. We fell in love with this adorable place and are really looking forward to return in another summer.
