The nature house is located in the nature reserve of Cottessen, near the small river Geul. It is a farmhouse from the 18th century. It is partly half-timbered and partly built with natural stone (quarry stone). The quarry is located about 100 meters away. The nature house has been a national monument since 1967. In the vicinity are nice places with many terraces and restaurants. Gulpen, Valkenburg, Vaals, Aachen and Maastricht are a short distance away. The Hoevehuis has 3 bedrooms. The bedrooms are on the first floor which can be reached via an open spiral staircase. Because of the furnishings, the cottage is less suitable for young children. The cottage has its own terrace with gate and its own part in the meadow. There is also a separate shed for bicycles and the like. We welcome you with wonderfully made beds. Layout ground floor: hallway/hallway with wall closet, toilet, living room, kitchen. Upper floor: 3 bedrooms, bathroom.
Nature and surroundings
Cottessen is a Natura2000 area. Because of its location there is a beautiful unobstructed view on all sides over the Geul valley, the Vijlener forest and Belgium (Sippenaeken). The river Geul flows nearby, as do the small side streams the Cottesserbeek and the Berversbergbeek. There are several hiking trails and beautiful bicycle routes in the immediate vicinity. There are many traditional fruit orchards, forests and watercourses. The area has rich flora and fauna. A perfect location to enjoy nature and culture. Our neighbor's campsite may be undergoing work in 2026. The campsite will be changed to a cottage park. We do not know if there will be any inconvenience. Keep in mind that in 2026 there may be some inconvenience. It probably won't be as much because the campground is a good distance away.
