Nature house in Ruinen

This nature house was designed by artist Ira Koers and winner of a Dutch Design Award. After extensive research, this artist drew inspiration from existing, traditional vacation homes with a fixed arrangement. She also chose this arrangement, but in a completely unique way. Her design is surprisingly simple, very effective, playful and colorful. Staying in this cottage, which is also located in one of the most beautiful spots of the park, will certainly contribute to enjoying and experiencing nature. The (small-scale) park has a reception where you can report and where you will then be kindly received for the key and receive more information about your stay.

For nature lovers, hikers and cyclists, the nature cottage is the ideal starting point for surprising tours of discovery. Within five minutes you are at the edge of the Natinaal Park Dwingelderveld. The large, quiet Dwingeloose Heide then stretches out before you! Within cycling distance are several national parks and typical Drenthe villages such as Vledder, Diever, Dwingeloo, Havelte and Ruinen. Villages with a rich history and tradition. In the vast forests are miles of well-maintained hiking and biking trails. On the moors you may encounter the wandering shepherd with his flock, and a sudden encounter with a roe deer and her young will make your day very special. The Visitor Center at the edge of the heath is well worth a visit. There you can obtain a lot of information about everything that lives and flourishes in the area. Throughout the year there are interesting exhibits and educational activities for young and old. Nearby is the heated outdoor swimming pool and in the village of Ruinen, four kilometers from the nature cottage, is a supermarket and a bakery with delicious tasty bread specialties, such as the 'Halve Gare'.
