Nature house in Giethoorn

We had been looking forward to this vacation home because the location and surroundings have a lot of potential. Unfortunately, our stay was disappointing due to the condition of the property.

Upon arrival, the cottage made a messy and dirty impression. Neither the interior nor the exterior was clean or well-maintained. The patio was covered in leaves, and the outdoor furniture was dirty, making it difficult to enjoy sitting outside right away.

In addition, there is clearly a backlog of maintenance. Many items are scuffed or worn out, and the whole place looks neglected.

The kitchen is fully equipped, but the knives are all dull.

Another downside was the slugs that came onto the patio in the evening through the large gaps between the deck boards, because there’s a lot of leaf litter under the deck.

It’s a shame, because this accommodation really has potential. With a thorough cleaning, better maintenance, and attention to the outdoor space, this could be a lovely place. In its current state, the value for money is insufficient.

We hadden ons verheugd op dit vakantiehuisje, omdat de locatie en de omgeving veel potentie hebben. Helaas viel het verblijf tegen door de staat van onderhoud.

Bij aankomst maakte het huisje een rommelige en schmutzige indruk. Zowel binnen als buiten was het niet schoon of netjes onderhouden. Het terras lag vol bladeren en het buitenmeubilair was vies, waardoor je niet direct prettig buiten kon zitten.

Daarnaast is er duidelijk sprake van achterstallig onderhoud. Veel is afgetrapt of versleten en het geheel oogt onverzorgd.

De keuken is compleet, maar de messen zijn allemaal bot.

Een ander minpunt waren de naaktslakken die 's avonds via de grote openingen tussen de vlonderplanken op het terras kwamen, omdat er veel bladafval onder het terras ligt.

Jammer, want deze accommodatie heeft echt potentie. Met een grondige schoonmaak, beter onderhoud en aandacht voor de buitenruimte zou dit een fijne plek kunnen zijn. In de huidige staat is de prijs-kwaliteitverhouding onvoldoende.

The house is in what should be a nice, quiet spot, but you can clearly hear the noise from parties in the area. So you don’t feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere, which is what you’d expect given the house’s location.
Plus, since it’s right on the water, you can expect a lot of mosquitoes, but that makes sense.
The cottage is also quite a distance from the parking lot, so if you have a lot of luggage, it’s quite a bit of work to get settled in.
The surrounding area is great for hiking.

Het huis ligt op een theoretische goede en rustige plek maar het feestgedruis uit de omgeving is goed hoorbaar. Je waant je dus niet in the middle of nowhere wat je zou verwachten van de locatie van het huis.
Je zit bovendien aan het water dus je kan heel veel muggen verwachten, maar dat is logisch.
Het huisje is ook een flink eindje verwijderd van de parkeerplek, dus met veel spullen is het een redelijke klus om jezelf te installeren.
Omgeving is super om te wandelen.

The cottage itself is small, cozy and just right for two to three people. Its very simplicity adds to its tranquility. All windows have screens, so you can enjoy the fresh air while the beautiful dragonflies and other insects stay outside. What makes this place extra special are the various seating areas around the cottage. Each spot offers a different beautiful view of nature and the water. I honestly could not choose which one was the most beautiful. The kitchen, bedroom and bathroom are comfortable and practical. Everything you need is there. In short: an attractive and perfect cottage in a unique place in the middle of nature.

Het huisje zelf is klein, knus en precies goed voor twee à drie personen. Juist de eenvoud draagt bij aan de rust. Alle ramen zijn voorzien van horren, zodat je volop kunt genieten van de frisse lucht terwijl de prachtige libellen en andere insecten buiten blijven.

Wat deze plek extra bijzonder maakt, zijn de verschillende zitplekken rondom het huisje. Elke plek biedt weer een ander prachtig uitzicht op de natuur en het water. Ik kon oprecht niet kiezen welke de mooiste was.

De keuken, slaapkamer en badkamer zijn comfortabel en praktisch ingericht. Alles wat je nodig hebt is aanwezig.

Kortom: een sfeervol en perfect huisje op een unieke plek midden in de natuur.

This was without a doubt the most beautiful place of all my vacations so far. From the first moment I felt a peace here that I have rarely experienced anywhere else. The view of the water, the fresh air and the beautiful natural surroundings made this stay truly special. Nature here is incredibly rich: trees, birds, animals and the most beautiful sounds all around you. I was truly overwhelmed by the beauty and serenity of this place. It is known that nature is the best antidepressant, and I was able to experience that for myself here. I returned home with much more peace in my mind, new energy and a deep sense of relaxation. Now that I am back home, I notice how special this place actually was. I have only been home for half a day and I must honestly admit that I already miss the beautiful cottage in the middle of nature. For anyone who is looking for silence, beauty, peace and quiet and a place to really take a breath, I highly recommend this location.

Dit was zonder twijfel de mooiste plek van al mijn vakanties tot nu toe.

Vanaf het eerste moment voelde ik hier een rust die ik zelden ergens anders heb ervaren. Het uitzicht op het water, de frisse lucht en de prachtige natuurlijke omgeving maakten dit verblijf werkelijk bijzonder. De natuur hier is ongelooflijk rijk: bomen, vogels, dieren en de mooiste geluiden om je heen. Ik was oprecht overdonderd door de schoonheid en de sereniteit van deze plek.

Het is bekend dat de natuur de beste antidepressant is, en dat heb ik hier zelf mogen ervaren. Ik ben met veel meer rust in mijn hoofd, nieuwe energie en een diep gevoel van ontspanning naar huis teruggekeerd.

Nu ik weer thuis ben, merk ik hoe bijzonder deze plek eigenlijk was. Ik ben nog maar een halve dag thuis en ik moet eerlijk toegeven dat ik het prachtige huisje midden in de natuur nu al mis.
