A charming detached nature house in the middle of nature with a view of the adjacent seesaw water mill. This cottage is located in the middle of the beautiful hiking area "Zouweboezem", a protected nature reserve with many special birds and plants. For example, the largest purple-ripe colony in Europe breeds here. Furthermore, the nature house is close to the worthwhile old cities of Utrecht, Leerdam and Gorinchem within a radius of 30 kilometers. Wake up with birdsong. During the day admiring the beautiful nature reserve via the hiking trails or via the sea side;s that can be rented from the landlords and in the evening on the waterfront watching the sun set. You have lots of privacy, a large garden with picnic table, a wood stove and lots of light. Renting a bbq is also a possibility.
Nature and surroundings
The most beautiful natural area in the Vijfheerenlanden. Once the mills on the Zederikkade milled the excess polder water to these reed beds. These used to be the production plots for the thatcher who turned them into the famous reed roofs for farm homesteads. Now the vast marshy and reed beds are the property of the largest breeding colony of the purple heron in our country. Also breeding here are marsh birds such as the black tern, spotted crake, cetti's warbler, moustache and marsh harrier. The Zouweboezem forms a whole with the adjacent duck decoy De Zouwe, Het Hoenderwiel and the Achthoven polder. Grasslands, water and reed beds alternate and together form one large nature reserve. The walk connects to the hiking possibilities in the adjacent Achthoven polder. There are also several viewpoints. There is a plank path through the reed bed, and you can often see marsh birds up close. There are many hiking trails that you can start from this address. The Groot Rivierenpad also runs past the house. There are also shorter routes such as the grasshopper route and the listen and struin route that runs partly along the bank of the Lek.
