Nature house in Flobecq

Physical discomfort, which we experienced 5 days before our departure for “Une biche dans la brume in Flobecq/Vloesberg,” prevented us—with the exception of “birdwatching” and a somewhat unconventional interest in “boating”— by visiting “The Strépy-Thieu Ship Lift,” to really assess the activities in the area. Based on what we did see, we can say that you or your horse must be physically fit. Do you have respect for the cyclists who race the Tour of Flanders every year, even though you’ve never been there? We have, so feel free to rate that respect at 100%!

Fysiek ongemak, opgelopen 5 dagen voor vertrek naar “Une biche dans la brume in Flobecq/Vloesberg", belette ons om, met uitzondering van 'Vogel kijken' en een mogelijk afwijkende vorm van belangstellimng voor 'Varen', middels het bezichten van 'De Scheepslift van Strépy-Thieu', kunnen wij de activiteiten in de omgeving eigenlijk niet echt beoordelen Wat we op basis wat we gezien hebben, wel kunnen oordelen dat u of uw paard fysiek in orde moet zijn. Heeft u respect voor de coureurs die jaarlijks de Ronde van Vlaanderen rijden maar u bent daar nog nooit geweest? Wij wel en dus: hoog dat respect gerust met 100% op!

The “Une biche dans la brume” property is, in essence, a paradise! In terms of space both inside and around the cottage, as well as the natural surroundings and tranquility. We also have a great deal of respect for Els, who—though not entirely on her own—wants to keep this paradise just that. What we personally found a bit of a shame was that the cottage was, for our taste, a bit dark. This was despite a large window on the south side. However, the beautiful fig tree and, especially, the walnut tree limited the natural light coming in. In terms of sustainability, we had to rely on electric lighting too often and wonder if that was the intention. The three narrow windows on the north side, which unfortunately couldn’t be opened, also didn’t really contribute to the natural lighting in the cottage. We’re more curious about what the steam from cooking will do to the wooden ceiling over time. As far as we’re concerned, these are points to consider—and given the circumstances, not real criticisms. Real criticism: where’s the broom to sweep the floor after breakfast!

Het domein “Une biche dans la brume” is in principe een paradijs! Qua ruimte in en ook rond het huisje en ook qua natuur en rust. Ook heel veel respect voor Els, die, weliswaar niet helemaal alleen, dit paradijs paradijs wil laten zijn. Wat wij persoonlijk wel jammer vonden, was het feit dat het huisje, naar onze smaak, donker was. Ondanks een groot raam aan de zuidzijde. Daar echter beperkten o.a. de prachtige vijg en vooral de walnootboom de natuurlijke lichtinval. Qua duurzaamheid moesten we te vaak een beroep doen op elektrische verlichting en twijfelen of dat de bedoeling is. De drie smalle raampjes aan de noordzijde, die helaas niet open konden, werkten ook niet echt mee aan de natuurlijke verlichting in het huisje. Wij zijn meer benieuwd wat stoom tijdens het koken op termijn gaat doen met houten plafond? Wat ons betreft zijn dit aandachtspunten en gelet op wat mogelijk is, geen echte kritieken. Echte kritiek: waar is de bezem om na ontbijt de vloer aan te kunnen vegen!

Everything was satisfactory, the weather could have been better, but then a lovely house is extra nice!

Alles was naar wens, het weer had beter gekund, maar dan is een heerlijk huis extra fijn!

Very hospitable welcome. Beautiful cottage and surroundings. All the necessities were there. The swimming pond was lovely.

Heel gastvrij ontvangen. Mooi huisje en omgeving. Alle benodigdheden waren aanwezig. De zwemvijver was heerlijk.

Perfect place to unwind and enjoy nature.

Perfecte plek om tot rust te komen en van de natuur te genieten.
