The nature house is located right by the sea, on a large piece of land and is part of Arrabida Natural Park. It is built on top of an ancient, horizontally growing Portuguese Pine tree. The sea is a 5-minute walk and in 20 minutes you walk to the beach. The land gives beautiful views of the sea, the lights of Lisbon, Cascais and the mountains of Sintra. The sunsets are unforgettable. In the background you can hear the waves of the Atlantic Ocean. F. Pessoa, the great Portuguese poet, was the inspiration for the treehouse. The 2 skylights, let you enjoy nature even more. The kitchen is simple but has everything to prepare fine meals, including a small refrigerator. The double bed has a good mattress. Your own compost toilet and shower are among the trees (sun-warmed water: just takes the chill off) . Outside: table & chairs, hammock and simple lounge-bed. There is a lot of privacy. Eggs from our chickens are for sale! Mosquito net is available but rarely needed.

Nature and surroundings

The nature house surrounded by 6 hectares of farmland, is located in rugged nature. We live on the land together with 4 dogs and 5 cats. The coast consists of high rocks interspersed with sandy beaches. Praia das Bicas is known for its beneficial mud. The beaches are very quiet by our standards. There are many hiking opportunities. The bird lover and (wind-)surfer comes into his own at Lago Albufeira. Cabo Espichel has a beautiful 17th century church with adjacent pilgrim's quarters. Climbing is possible in this area (well-maintained routes). In the village there is a mini-mercado, a bakery, 2 café/restaurants and a coffee shop. Sesimbra is the neighboring town with a castle, boulevard, eateries, small harbor and beach. The sea is calmer here, you can canoe and dive. A short drive away is Park Arrabida with its monastery and the harbor Portinho da Arrabida, where you can eat on the waterfront.
